JoeP 08-21-2006, 07:04 PM I've been using the small ones for 3 years with No Problems at all - until last week when a 5LB blue somehow bent the wire a little. striperjerk1 08-21-2006, 07:07 PM ive,d been using the 80 lbs. for a couple years now. FL- 1 80 # -------SL-1 50# . DaveS 08-21-2006, 07:08 PM Thank ya's very much :) NIB 08-21-2006, 09:56 PM Big clip luds 08-21-2006, 10:30 PM Big clip for anything bigger than an ounce. The big clip will kill the action on a 1 ounce bomber. NIB 08-21-2006, 10:35 PM What action. Mike P 08-22-2006, 09:54 AM I have total confidence in the 80# clip. All Star 1209, Saltiga with drag almost locked, 65# braid, 5 knot current, 33 lb fish, pulled maybe 6 feet of drag the whole time it was on, and the jig in its jaw exactly where a Duolock would have been trashed in less than 5 seconds. I'd say Nick has a winner there. luds 08-22-2006, 10:05 AM What action. ??????? They don't swim with the big clip. nightprowler 08-22-2006, 10:24 AM I use the fast link at the end of my braid so I don't have to cut it as often, and tie a leader with a spro heavey and then i can either tie direct to the mono or use the spin link or fast link depending on what im fishing. i carry several of each leader with me and then its a quick change, especially when the bloos come in. american spirit 08-22-2006, 12:51 PM Big clip for anything bigger than an ounce. The big clip will kill the action on a 1 ounce bomber. i'll confirm that. :kewl: i've been using the small clips all year on 1-2 oz. plugs. no problems. may switch to the big ones for some 3 oz. pluggage. DaveS 08-22-2006, 04:27 PM Big one it is, thank you for your timely response. NIB 08-23-2006, 07:21 AM ??????? They don't swim with the big clip. I retrieve a bomber so slo I get a few more grey hairs on every cast. I basically just comes in floating on top. I only use the breakaway clips with jigs. I prefer to use either size 34 or 35(mostly 35 the bigger one) cross locks. I round the working part of em with jewelrs pliers(round). There have been issues with the breakaway clips coming offa the plugs.Like with Pencil Poppers if a fish hits with the plug sideways. It'll slip right off just the way it goes on.If a fish has the plug in his mouth an turns the right (wrong)way the same thing could happen. Rob Rockcrawler 08-24-2006, 04:50 AM Never had a problem with the small ones, use em all the time. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
