Have we reached the point that Livelining Bluefish for Tuna is no longer a viable option? Four Live Bluefish = Four mangled carcasses thanks to dogfish.

Its really the only way to keep the dogs off them. You will only be able to fish the top of the water column, but at least you'll still have bait. This is half the reason Kite fishing is becoming so popular. If you mark one deep, throw a weight on and send it down - just hope charlie finds it before the stupid dogs. -This also eliminates tuna bombs if you still use those. hope that helps. stripersnipr 08-25-2006, 07:55 AM Try not using any weights at all. Thanks a lot soinds like good advice. That would explain the huge increase I've seen in kites on the Bank and in the Bay this year. ProfessorM 08-26-2006, 09:28 AM At the Jungle. At times the trucks would line the canal along the access road with livewells. More work than herring though. stormfish 08-26-2006, 12:18 PM When I was young tuna fishing with my father around the Dump in the middle of summer we noticed massive amount of blues jumping over our balloons. Concerns for our rigged butterfish start to arise. Trailing the Blues flew a Massive Giant Bluefin I would say around 900lbs. All of a sudden one of our balloons flew in the air and the reel started to sing a tune. Could it be what we think it is? 15 minutes into the fight the fish took flight 12 feet into the air. Turns out it was a 200lb Mako perfectly hooked in the corner of the mouth. DoH! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
