Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton has been forced to pull out of the first month of the band's forthcoming tour, after being diagnosed with throat cancer.
The rocker, 54, has just completed seven weeks of radiotherapy and is currently resting at home with his family.
The group's guitarist Joe Perry has enrolled his musician pal David Hull to play bass until Hamilton's return. Hull performed with Perry in the 1970s.
The band's publicist says Hamilton hopes to return to the Route Of All Evil joint-tour with Motley Crue by mid-October.
The tour begins in Holmdel, New Jersey on September 14.
Hamilton's illness is the latest health problem to hit the band - earlier this year, frontman Steven Tyler underwent surgery on his vocal cords.
