piemma 09-05-2006, 10:06 AM Congrats Jimmy.
The fish on the left is a traveler from the Cape I bet. See how light she is? I think some fish are moving as I had some light fish over the weekend. Also had a 24" Weakfish on a redgill. Shocked me!!

Spence a couple of quick questions for a Bally's guy.
Do the korker straps ruin the leather?
Does eels slime wash off well?
spence 09-05-2006, 02:25 PM Do the korker straps ruin the leather?
Not if you line them with mohair.
Does eels slime wash off well?
As long as they have a good polish.
Here's a tip, keep a little tube of shoe creme in your wader pocket, and save a nip of that eel rag for a quick "touch up" on the rocks.

tynan19 09-05-2006, 03:07 PM Nice Fish Jim! Must have been a great 20 minutes.

Mr Hunters yes the color on all fish fade as they sit. Look at any fish pic of colorful fish taken as they come out of the water, they are vibrant. The same fish will look dull hours later after the blood drains from their skin. I think that is why Jim's fish look light in the pic.

tynan,
I think what piemma was referring to with the light colored striper is that it is a cape striper......bass from the cape seem to have lighter coloring due to the fact of what is under the fish as they swim...ie sand, beaches .....as opposed to a newport, or a gansett fish which are clearly darker because of the rocks that are below them. If you look at the two fish, the one on the left is a lot lighter than the one on the right....
picture was taken after the second one was landed....approximately 15 minutes after the first one wasd caught...
If I have this wrong Paul, chime in when you read this
shadow 09-05-2006, 04:16 PM good going jimmy, we got nothing last night.what was there weight? And yes fish that hang in the sand are lighter then the ones in the rocks.

tynan19 09-05-2006, 05:38 PM Jim, I agree with what Paul was implying about the lighter fish. They are both nice fish and I am not saying there not it just looks like the first one lost some blood. I was trying to explain that to Mr. Hunters in regards to his cooler coment.
Here is a pic of a striper an hr after being caught.

45", 44"
32# and 29# on a bathroom scale
lobsters in the gut
larger fish had what looked like a chick in her stomach (probably 2 days old) huge tail and claws
when these fish hit back to back there was no bait in the water, grubbing I guess
