fishsmith 09-06-2006, 09:39 AM Romney bars state security for Iranian's Harvard visit
Cites unacceptable use of funds on `a terrorist'

To the folks at Harvard I'd like to request the The Clash song "White Man In Hammersmith"
"If Adolf Hitler Flew In Today, They'd Send a Limousine Anyway".
spence 09-06-2006, 09:53 AM Seems like his harsh words are a bit of pre-presidential-run bluster though...
Calling Mohammed Khatami a "terrorist" isn't really going to help anything much. This was a person freely elected on a platform of moderation and reform.
Think of the message this sends to the Iranian people, the majority of whom are not religious fanatics.
It's basically calling all of the Iranian people terrorists and doing nothing but creating more of a divide between us and all the people of that region.
When what we should be doing is seeking ways to divde moderate Iranians (who are not all Muslim by the way) and the politically motivated religious fanatics who we wish to constrain.

Redsoxticket 09-06-2006, 11:16 AM If Romney believes that Mohammed Khatami is a "terrorist" then why doesn't he prevent his entry into US ?
I agree that he shouldn't spend state money for security. The state should budjet the monies for other programs like "mandatory health insurance".
Skip N 09-06-2006, 11:17 AM Good for Romney! We don't need a guy like that giving a speach the day before the 5th anniversary of Sept. 11th.
And what's the deal with Ivy league schools now a days? Harvard tries to pull this crap, and Yale has an ex Taliban spokesman enrolled.
WTF??
How can any student from Yale, not walk by that kid, and knock his teeth out?

Good point...
If President Bush is true to his word shouldn't Khatami be taken into custody and sent to GTMO?

Redsoxticket 09-06-2006, 11:32 AM Skip WTF you talking about, besides creating conflict but that is your opinion. The students of the ivy schools should be exposed to an education of foreign policy. This experience will give them a perspective of the world issues for when they become tomorrows leaders.

It gets worse. I am pretty sure he is there on scholarship, and he does lectures there as well.

I think President Bush has pretty much proven that perspective on world issues isn't required to become tomorrows leader :hee:

Oh, I'm sure he has MORE than enough money to pay for his own security.
Redsoxticket 09-06-2006, 12:02 PM I don't have any kids.
Hitler doesn't have to be alive, the documentations and films are used today by students. If the students were controlled to inspire hate throughout the world then this country will be isolated and collapse.

I agree as long as he hires an approved security firm of the US., otherwise who is going to secure the security.

Hmmm...George W's Daughter Barbara is a recent Graduate from Yale and George W is a Yale Alumnus.
I wonder if "W" still sends Donations to his Alumni Fundraisers......Hmmm...again
striprman 09-06-2006, 08:06 PM It's all a big conspiracy by capitalist war mongers who have made billions.
