If you see a guy on the rocks, paddle a bit further offshore when you troll in front of him. The second time by I was 2 seconds from throwing a sinking needle across his transom to see what he was trolling...
Whole lotta ocean and I was the only guy in sight, just stay off a bit further...

had the spotlight out last night, paddling over that hole aint helping the fishing....

i'll admit i've unintentionally trolled to close while people were on the rocks. however as soon as i realized (which was pretty quick) I moved on. im very conscious of my wake, lines, and location so when something like that happens its truly an accident.

its funny, the whole time im on the water I'm trying to stay out of the way of people....why is it never the other way around?

U stand in the surf an u try to cast out as far as u can.
U get a boat an u thro at land...
Most times a signal of some sort (light, or some jesture)
Gets there attention..I try to be nice at first.moma always told me u get more bee's with honey.
If that don't work well u know...
I have kept quite a few boats from comin ashore in this spot in NJ.
It all looks black sometimes u can't tell.
One night i was almost killed when a boat came ashore a few feet from me.
Helped em get back out it was a honest mistake.

Story from Race Point years ago. There were a bunch of us at the Second Rip. It's the middle of the night and this BIG cabin cruiser comes and anchors abot 50 yards in front of us. Turns on his spot light and starts scanning the shore and the water. We all yelled at the guy to turn his light off and move. He gave us the finger! Now this was during commercial season in the 70s. One of the guys, Lanny (and Back Beach you know how Lanny is) asks "Anyone got some 4oz pyramid sinkers in ther truck?" One of the guys did and everyone loads up there rods and fires at the boat. After some screams, a spotlight exploding and the sound of breaking fiberglass, the boat started up and hightailed it. We never saw that guy again.:kewl:

On a similar note, maybe one or both of the guys who were kayaking directly in and out of our casting zone the other night while you, Paul & I were out, is a member of this Board. I hate that - :realmad:

But again, we resisted the urge to snag 'em & yank 'em into the currrent that would have sent them south at 50 MPH in a hurry.

I still think the sinker idea is a dandy. It works!!

If you think your the only one who has done that you are seriously misaken. Sometimes thier so close a 1 or 2 ounze works rather well.:jump:

I figured there had to be other crazies. I just never had been a party to it until that night.

I was out one night this year, and had a similar encounter...after a few nice words (well more like shouts, only so he could hear me) and several attempts to show him my location with light flashes..some a-hole in a big arsed day cruiser type boat wouldnt budge..(he was less than 100ft away from me/shore) so instead of wasting my sinkers or losing my plugs..I just started launching sinker sized rocks around the guys yaught..needless to say he go spooked:happy:and took off..

:devil2:

This reminds me of the time Tattoo and I were out on Brenton in the middle of the night and a tiny tin boat kept trolling thru the waves WAY too close to us on shore.

On a close pass Tattoo fired a Habs needle at the boat several times, eventually hooking up. A battle ensued... After a lot of pulling he won the battle when the line of the angler in the boat broke. Attached to a Habs Needlefish was the offenders wire leader eel rig, complete with the eel.

I can just imagine the excitement in the tin boat, they must have thought they were landing a 50.

On a related note, what's up with free divers in kayaks? Absolutely NO fear (although they should certainly be afraid) of setting up shop right where I'm casting....
