Lucky SOB - he should go buy some lottery tickets today as well !

Glad he didn't kill some one.

Isn't that one of the first things you do when you start a car up - check how much fuel you have before you decide to go on a road trip...... LOL

I feel sorry for the guy who ownes the Bogs . They are talking that they may be contaminated. They would start picking them in a week or 2. Possibly a whole years work for nothing.

That is a shame :(, hope the pilot has insurance to pay for a ruined crop. Sounds like he won't have to worry about gas contamination though

Funny thing---for all the flying I did in my younger days, I never once saw "check fuel level" on a checklist. "Boost pumps on"? Sure. "Mixture full rich"? Naturally. I guess "check fuel gauge" basically was assumed.

Besides, it's almost an article of religion to keep full tanks to prevent condensation and water contamination. And checking for water contamination is on the pre-flight "walk around" checklist.

Hopefully the plane is insured and the bog owner gets reimbursed accordingly. Thankfully he didn't hurt anyone on the ground or himself.
