The Call Of The Surf (http://www.thecallofthesurf.com/)
Originally published in 1920, the first book devoted to modern surfcasting, The Call Of The Surf, by Van Campen Heilner and Frank Stick, is widely considered a classic. It's very rare - I could not find a copy on the used book sites. The last time I tried to buy a copy it was well over $100.
Today, most surfcasting-specific books fall into three classifications: how-to, where-to or mood/adventure. This book is all of those things and something else - it's quite unique. The Call Of The Surf gives us a needed glimspe into the spirit of the sport at its inception and the hearts of the fishermen who led the way.
It's at the printer's now and should be ready to start shipping within a month. Surfcasting Rhode Island is both the publisher and distributor.
The book will be available on Amazon and through Surfcasting Rhode Island and at the new promo website I just made. You can read the first chapter online (http://www.thecallofthesurf.com/Chapter1.htm)at the promo site to get a feel for it.
The cover price is 19.99, and includes shipping. When it is on SRI it will be discounted $5 to cover shipping costs and to come close to the Amazon price.
