i went to the local autherised yamaha dealer who winterises my boat to ask what to do as far as fuel in the tank for storage he said empty the tank as much as possable , he said the new ethonal will break down over that period of time (even with fuel stablizer) and the fuel will be useless . he said what little condensation that you get will not be a big problem if you run a water seperating filter . what has anyone else heard

I have heard various versions of that story. We have had ethanol gas in CT for the last few years. I've left the tank about 1/4 full the last couple of years. I would not say the gas is useless in the spring. My boat does burn it (yamaha 200 carbed). If you have a carbed outboard, I would make sure to drain the carbs (no gas in the carbs) or the fuel will leave a pile of crud that will clog the jets.
I plan to leave about 20 or so gallons in my 100 gallon tank. I add the Stabil product and make sure it is well mixed in the tank. Don't just dump it in the tank after putting her in storage for the winter, drive it so it mixes.

I too will drain the carbs, Honda 90, and leave as little gas as possible in the tank if any at all. P.

I run Fogging Oil through the carbs on my Johnson. Haven't had any trouble so far. Also pull the plugs and run Fogging Oil in the cylinders, then put the plugs back in. The first year I owned the motor, I didn't do that, and had a lot of trouble getting is started. No trouble at all since I started using the Fogging Oil the second year. My Johnson is a 2001.
Empty, Stabil and winterize off an auxiliary tank loaded with stabil and oil... Pull the plugs give,it a shot of fogging in each cyl, bump it over, spray it with crc or wd40... Drain carbs and pull the fuel filter and change.

Drain tanks if possible, mine is easy!!
Run motor after disconecting the fuel ine till it runs dry.
Drain bowls of anything that might be in there.
Remove plugs and add Mystery oil to each cylinder, turn motor over to coat all cylinders.
Your motor is set for years of storage!! Let alone a few months.
Also I run one tank of 50:1 mix in the spring just to make sure the oil injection is working!!!! You will be giving double oil but it won't hurt anything and will lube well after the long winter!!
This gives you a chance if something happened to the injection dies for what ever reason? I lost a motor like this once in the spring, this is a great Idea a friend gave me. Better safe then sorry!
