I have that rod built by Mike and it is great especially if you need a tough two piece rod. It is rated to handle to 2-5 oz. I would say that 21/2 to 3 is the sweet spot. I have thrown sluggos with mine without any problems. It is a fast blank.

It absolutely smokes a 3 oz Crippled Herring. Lots of backbone for a fast rod, too.

Not beefy enough to chuck lead in the ditch.....thats kinda what I was thinking

TDF..I got one years ago specificly for jigging the ditch. It easily handles 4 oz jigs (I haven't had a need to try more). 250 for the combo, the rod is worth that by itself...
