Last Thursday morning, I left for the promise land with a group of guys (and girls) from the Connecticut Surfcasters. We took our anual trip to the 'Hunk. Day one went pretty well for all of us. Many fish were caught throughout the night, and a variety of plugs were working. I have been fishing Tattoo's junior swimmer for the past couple seasons with some very pleasing results. This trip was to be no exception. I started off the night fishing poppers, then needles, as the wind was picking up and I felt distance would be a factor. After a couple smallish fish around 10#'s, I figured I would try a danny/eelskin combo. This brought many hits, but few hookups. As soon as I switched over to the white junior, I was into fish. One sequence of 3 casts produced fish of 21 #'s and 23#'s. The 23 is pictured below. The night continued in this way, and the wind began to pick up steadily. Night # 2 was different beast all together. The wind had shifted and began blowing harder out of the S/SW. The junior still produced fish for me, but the bigger fish had moved to another section of the island than I was fishing. This night went on to produce a 31#er for an S-B member to remain nameless, and the eventual 47", tournament winning bass for another CSA/S-B member. Saturday night was all but unfishable. The wind had truly picked up and the sea was mad that night. Only small sections of the island remained fishable, and even that was limited. Several bass to about 20#'s were taken, but I cashed it in early for some much needed sleep. All in all, it was a great weekend and some fantastic fishing was had at times. The only real casuality of the trip was my Saltiga, once again, that sits on the table to be disassembled tonight...

I crossed paths with toby several times over the weekend and would concur with his report. The conditions really deteriorated from Saturday into Sunday. Though Saturday morning was hot from 4-7am in one great spot. I've attached a few pics from the weekend. Some of you might recognize the wounded girl on the West End road. We were able to resuscitate her in the end...

Great times had by all fishing with locals, old and new friends, and the Connecticut Surfcasters. We fished hard, ate well, and managed the buzz. I want to thank Tattoo and Joe from Surfcasting-ri.com for their kind donation of killer plugs to the cause this weekend. They all got good use. Maximum respect.

I love that place! Great pictures too. Tattoo plugs have always produced for me. He makes a great plug, period! I can't wait to use the new 2 oz. darter.

Everyone enjoy their fall fishing.
