Great weather today nice calm seas, but not a lot of action.
There were many boats there in the AM, but most left before we did.
Only saw 2 whales, and not much bait.
But we managed one tuna ~45 lbs.
Which was promptly released after a pic.

But what a thrill we got when a tuna came full out
of the water about 30 yards in front of us.
I would guess this fish was like 250-300 lbs.
Even at a distance is looked HUGE.

Tuna have been all over the place here on the Northshore (i.e., between Thatchers Island and Glo harbor). Haven't hooked on yet but they are chasing macs no more than a few miles out.

You'd killem with a barrel full of Macs. We hooked up twice yesterday on 50-60 pound tuna on the cod gear. Both times the tuna hit a small cod, haddock or herring that we were reeling in. It was allot of fun. Codding was slow but managed a dozen nice haddock. This happens on occassion but twice in one day tells me maybe there is a better method than dragging rubber.

Can you give some details on how to do the bridal rig?

forget the string, use a #32 rubber band and twist it up tight then stick the hook back thru the twisted loop on top of it's eyes..

Nice, I've never tried it before. Is that what they call a "rigging needle" like you would find at a tackle shop?

I don't get a chance to fish offshore much, but I want to try this with bunker and hickory shad 3-wayed for stripers.
