Went out at 6am this morning at Sandwich ( 37 Degrese). With reports of the fishing beeing on/off amazing at scortons and billingsgate, we figured we would give it a try. Got out to ******* and caught some blues, nothing for stripers.Went to ******** and caught nothing but blues again. So we decided to head closer to shore and see what we can cast to with the really light weight rods. Go in there, right away we see schools of blues crashing on the surface. I would say for 1 mile or more down the shore line. Casting to them with hard plastic topwater lures we KILLED THEM
I am so glad we decided to pick up and cast. If you guys have ever trolled for stripers or blues, its not fun fighting a fish on that heavy of weight rods. Just feels like your winching them in. With the light tackle with 30 pound braided, you feel every head shake.
We caught over 60 blue fish. Probably around 75.
Had a seal come up 1 foot from the boat chasing the blue fish. Trying to take it right off the hook. Pretty cool having it jump in arms reach.
Awsome day out there. Smoothed out nicely, little choppy on the way out, but overall a GREAT day.
Got off the water at about 5 and got home at dark.
Heres some of the fish. The biggest was 30 inches. 1 small striper thrown in there.
