Seems as if it must be slow.....anyone in the know give us an update??? The Dad Fisherman 10-05-2006, 03:25 PM A couple of guys I know that just got back from there last week said it Sucked Big Time....almost non-existent numbskull 10-05-2006, 04:23 PM Very slow day yesterday plugging Robinson's, Quick's, Pasque, and Nashawena in decent conditions (SW 15). Had been good earlier in the week, I've been told. Worked very hard Sat pm til Sun Am in tough conditions SE 20 for 1 #17 fish (guy I was with took a #27). Tuesday was also very slow behind Nantucket, and lower SE Buzzards Bay was dead as well. Discouragingly little bait around at the moment, but that can and will change quickly, particularly after a good blow. So far this fall the RI and CCB guys have it best, but we'll get our chance yet. ProfessorM 10-05-2006, 04:35 PM Was there Sat. to Tues. Pm . Very slow everywhere we fished and was told the same by most I meet along the way. No Albies to be found. An off year for sure so far. P. Was there all last week, very slow. Did manage about 15 keepers but nuttin huge. The fat girls are gonna come out and play... (was catching on your pencil BF) sweet wood! Back Beach 10-06-2006, 07:32 AM Leo, Good luck. That's going to be a tough one to beat. We hit it hard for three nights with little to show. By the looks of the daily entries, things haven't improved yet. I'm pulling for you. bradf1 10-06-2006, 08:28 AM I heard from a friend that up island from the shore They were gettin a bunch of Stripers but nothin real big. He said he was ketchin 24-26" fish every cast for a while. fishpoopoo 10-06-2006, 09:42 AM i was there for a week late in early sep. while early, it was uncharacteristically slow in all the usual places (obviously the weather had an impact). word from the locals was that the spring squid spawn was decimated by the draggers. livinit 10-06-2006, 11:32 AM I live on MV and work in one of the local tackle shops and I can honestly say that the fishing has been extremely poor, but . . . it is picking up. I know bigger pockets of fish have shown up and we are catching more than we were (which is not saying much). The fish are getting bigger and I know for myself and a couple of my buddies we finally had two nights of throwing back several 25-28 pounders, which sadly is some of the best fishing we've had in weeks. The nice part was that we got them on plugs. I have a funny feeling that if we get some nice SW winds that 40# will be bumped. I've been seeing more bait and the blues we've been catching are hacking up some nice size squid. The bonito and albie fishing is still crappy, but who cares. Funny things happen the last week of the Derby. I've seen that leader board change several times in the last three days of the Derby, is it gonna be you? By the way, I'm strictly writing about the surf fishing. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
