I'm not one for political threads but I feel it necessary to make a comment. Kim you little impotent %$%$%$%$ I hope they carpet bomb you and your country. There was no reason to do what you did. I hope they shut off EVERY frickin dollar to your country and you eat your own toenails out of desperation.

What a sorry world we live in. I feel bad for what my kids have inherited :(

It's more than likely they'll face sanctions over this. If China is pissed, and they are then there isn't going to be much opposition.

Look where a policy of tough talk but no action has got us?

Welcome the party that rocks on the edge of the abyss....

I feel most sorry for the S Koreans and the Japanese. The "Dear Leader" might be stupid enough to kick off there. Wonder if the Chinese will continue to do not much...

If there are only two roads in...easier then to cut a lifeline.

I'm not saying sanctions are the trick here either, this is a very complicated problem...and the little guy is holding most of the cards.

Japan and South Korea will take action if NK decides to keep testing nukes. They will take the lead if military action needs to be taken, and the US will be there to help. But i dont believe the US wil be the first one to fire shots, we'll leave that up to Japan and SK. They'll gladly take care of North Korea if needed!

Little Kim needs to know the world will NOT tolerate this BS. But please dont leave this issue for the UN to figure out :conf:

The massive human casualty rate aside I don't know why all these countries don't just stop the $$ aid and let them suffer. Once people start having nothing to eat they will revolt and this guy will be eaten alive like a Thanksgiving dinner.

Why these guys had to shoot off a nuke is beyond my comprehension. Just like the rockets on July4 it's doing nothing but adding to the already rapid destruction of the world and it's resources. They stomp their feet because we won't support them and put food in their mouths? %$%$%$%$ them.

Impotent little %$%$%$%$ that wears pants that are 7 " too long and has a 10,000 volume porn collection so he can pleasure himself while he takes viagra.

Sad really sad.

SK would be hard pressed to go offensive with NK - not for military capability reasons as they are in decent shape and can roll back most if not all that Kim can send south. The major problem for SK is that Seoul is already in artilery / MLRS and easy short range missile / SCUD range from NK. While shelling and the ability to put astonomical amounts of shells into the city would certainly suck and have a disasterous effect on Seoul, chemical / biological tipped missiles lobbed into Seoul could kill hundreds of thousands to millions of South Koreans.

Japan could preemptively strike NK with less fear of retaliation. NK has no conventional systems that can realistically penetrate Japan even of they could reach it and the vast majority cannot. The only NK systems that could reach Japan are their rockets which may or may not work and may or may not have NBC capability. Some of which Japan could possibly intercept and possible mitigate effects on.

Still Japan kicking off against NK could anger China (lots of tension lately) and could trigger other other responses in the region. Especially if they were to target and damage nuclear facilities that could impact Chinese and Russian areas that border on / near NK...

If we kick off there is the good possbility of NK going for broke against SK and even have China interceed on NK's behalf.... Pretty muddled picture and now the "Dear Bastard" has confirmed he can toast off a nuke (at least in a test setting)...

With only a few (if that) nuclear warheads and/or bombs in thier arsenal and given that, except for most of the military and government high party officials, are near starvation, there is no petroleum resources for the people again reserved for the military and without a stable source for Kim's fetish for western cartoons ( I hear he loves Bugs Bunny). I believe this is a feint for garnering aid from countries like Iran, Syria, China Cuba (yeah right sure) Venezuela. Boast big, like you got a pair of giant steel nutz and play to the heartstrings of the leftist goverments around the world because you cannot solve your problems internally.

Not to be pessimistic, but did WWIII just start? If not, at what point has it?

Maybe the worst thing about this isn't what NK might do. After all, we know where they sleep and the guys in the subs would avenge our deaths many times over. The problem is they are poor beyond poor and sactions will only make that worse. So, with that said, what's stopping them from selling their toys to a nut without a nation? Someone with no capitol to target has a lot less to lose.

Abandon all hope in the UN. If anyone does anything, you can bet it won't be the UN.

WTF to we care if NK has nuclear weapons or in the process
of developing nuclear weapons?
Would we hear anything if one of our allies(say SK) had tested and
developed nuclear weapons?
We are told that 7 nations have nuclear weapons?
How do we know for sure that is true?
Maybe some of our allies like S. Africa and Saudi Arabia
have them too!
If we feel threatened by this then the U.N. is our recourse!
We can not act on our own!

Ummm ok, this is why folks on the far left can never be voted into office!!

They trust the UN, and dont see any issue with a rogue nation having nukes. :err:

Yanno this could all be a real big HOAX

They've got a bunch of scientists that say the signature don't match nuke....It better matches a 500 ton tnt blast...

Wouldn't it be a kicker if the little $!@#$#@! got 500 tons of dynamite together, blew it up, and then said it was nuke....think about it and look at what he's got to gain. I'm waiting to hear they found radiation levels somewhere....

1. NK could theoretically sell one to some raghead terrorists who would light it off on our soil.

2. This could start a regional arms race. Imagine South Korea, Japan and Taiwan, amongst others, with nukes. The number of conflicts that could be started are just mind-boggling.

3. China and Japan are huge trading partners with the U.S. Anything bad that happens to them will come back to bite us in the arse.

1) That would be very bad

2) There is a significant regional arms races already underway. The PRC is significantly raising their military capabilities in ways that count to project force in the upgrades of the air, navy, and nuclear forces (get ready for limited MAD again). SK is upgrading their military in quality ways and Japan is up doing so as well. Even the US is repositioning assets to balance higher in the Pacific theater.

3) Yep, we're setting ourselves up for that all right... It only costs us jobs for profit if it creates a Pax Pacifica but if it does not it is jobs, soldiers, and stability.

U.S. confirms test

An analysis of air samples collected shortly after North Korea declared it had conducted the test confirms it took place, according to the office of the U.S. director of national intelligence.
The analysis detected radioactive debris, indicating the explosive yield was less than one kiloton, said a statement from John Negroponte's office. That is relatively small for a nuclear test.
The first air sample collected after Pyongyang's announcement last week contained no radioactive debris, but a second one did.

My brother-in-law travels (17 hour flight) to SK several times a year. Works for high tech company. He says that they take him out to eat and on many of the menus are DOGS, which he has had to eat. Roasted, broasted and fired. They never go anywhere that you can get a decent piece of cow. Eddie says the food is some of the worst he has ever tasted. He can't insult them though,so he eats it, but he truly detest going there.
