My buddy has what he believed to be a 1993 Johnson 150 outboard. The boat is a 21ft Privateer and tops out a 41mph.
Talking with another 21ft privateer owner with an '89 Johnson 150 he only gets a bit over 30mph.
Where on the block can you see what the actual motor size is?
The Powerpack was just replaced and under it there was a serial number that began 175xxxxxx, could this be a 175hp motor with 150 cover?
sounds right i could only get 30mph out of my old 150 Johnson
When i repowered with 175 RUDE I got 40+ mph...

fishsmith; I'm not sure about a serial number on the block, but, find the model and serial number tag on the mouting bracket. Should be a small aluminum tag on the left side of the motor when looking at the stern of the boat. A 1993 Johnson 150 will have a model number something like; J150TXET
The "J" for Johnson; 150 hp; "T" for power tilt/trim with electric start; "X" for 25" shaft length; "ET" for model year 1993.
Hope that helps.:tooth:

I don't think that is helping fishsmith with his question. :lasso:

60 on the water is very cool (not for the pocketbook, but very cool none the less).
