What kind of stick do you want? Backbone? Distance? or Both?

You're more than welcome to try it on my Arra 1322 at the Rhody leg this weekend if you'd like. Maybe take a few casts at the breachway. I either have a 6500 cs mag or the 7000 cl matched to the rod. I also use the 7000 on my Allstar 1208. Both great rods for the 7000 size reels.

Distance, you know those bass that bust in the middle of the ditch.....I would like to offer them a 3.5 oz Polaris or two. :D

Tattoo, try a Ron Arra 1205, ya can't go wrong, I launch 4 oz with it easily over 100 yards with only a BG700cl. very versitle blank for big wood andjigs at the ditch and for light stuff too. A 3 1/2 oz polaris will fly.
But if you want 11' , then take tobias up on his offer.

I'm not sure, gotta save cookies for the Hunk.

What's good for you? I have to check the tides. My spot will start looking good around 11:30 pm Friday. I'm gonna try to behave this weekend and make points doing stuff around the house but you know I will be jonesing to get out.

distance is not in a rod, but in the reel, the reel's tuning, line choice, and lure/weight selection. it takes a while to break in the bearings on a reel like that.

i have a rod in mind...

For the most part. But a souped up MagE on a 9' meat stick is not going to cast a 3oz plug as far as say a 10-11' Breakaway or XRA... It's the total package and competence of the caster that defines the distance...

Reason for my asking was that I have a 1089 PacBay Saber that might go up for sale if he wanted a cheaper rod to plug & jig the shoreline. It's a nice eeling stick when a little more backbone is wanted but it's not the optimum rod to reach the distance of say, the other side of the Ditch. It'll cast well but it won't provide the same distance that a rod designed for distance will get ya.

Good lami rods to look at would be the XRA 1205 , XRA1266 and XRA 1322. AllStar also makes a 1266/2 that is great for just what you mentioned. For 3 to 5 , the Allstar 1209 is also good but better on the 4 to 5 OZ end. An Allstar 1208 isgood at the 3 OZ end but not heavy enough for 5 OZ. Another great choice specifically for your 3.5 Polaris is the Loomis 1266. It will also cast two well but it tops out at 4 OZ. For a rod that appears to do it all , the XRA 1205 and the ALLstar 1266 are worth looking at. I'm toying with bringing my XRA 1205 with me to RI this weekend. I will also probably bring my Loomis 1266. You are welcome to try both.

Tat I can bring my Allstar 1209 this weekend if ya want to give it a try. I have a 7000 Big Game on it, takes two seconds to swap reels.
