Anyone have any thought or comments on some of the better laptops on the market today? Not looking for any super high end ones. something in the under $1000 range. Mostly to be used for music, digital photos, that kinda thing.

Check out Acer. Got one for the wife a few months ago. So far no problems. Lots of good features for the $$$.

was on another thread and laptops were brought up and "HP" lost in the service dept. off shore phone opperators, transfers to another higher up(?) and returned with the same problems. my opinion is they are all very close till it comes to repairs and service. then your dealing with the devil.

i've got an 'el cheapo' dell .. not bad , serves my needs
but... was at a friends and saw a sony viao ....the quality of the screen was intense !!! not even in the same ballpark . if you are going to do anything with pics , check it out . i know what my next one is gonna be :)
