Eastham woman hurt in Route 6 accident
CAPE COD TIMES
EASTHAM - A local woman was taken to Cape Cod Hospital after a two-car accident on Route 6 yesterday morning.
Dwight Genius, 37, of Hyannis was distracted by his cell phone and drove north through a red light at the intersection of Nauset Road, Salt Pond Road and Route 6, police said.
In an effort to avoid a car entering from Nauset Road on his right, Genius steered his car left and collided with a Jeep Liberty entering Route 6 from Salt Pond Road. The Jeep was driven by Susan Ohara, 53, of Eastham.
Ohara was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Genius and his passenger were not injured.
Eastham police closed one lane of traffic northbound and one lane southbound for about a half hour.
The accident remained under investigation yesterday.
