Yow... Right now the surf, 4-7 foot, is rolling up the end of my street. For grins and giggles I went over to Conimicut Point where I dodged seaweed on the road to the point - it was a lot deeper than it looked - and saw the bay litterally lapping the foundation of a few houses. On the point, the waves are crashing on the grass at the the end of the parking lot, and the residual saltwater is in the parking lot. On the way back I figured it would be smarter to go the back way out. That water was even deeper on the northside as the storm surge is just filling it up. I saw one 4x4 truck with water almost over the headlights (and therefore the stock air intake) so I back tracked and went around again. Some brilliant fellow was contemplating taking his Lexus though there... On the way back I drove by a Swan swimming in the road...

When I was down in Gansett, I also stopped by the short wall. Waves were breaking over Salty Brine beach into the parking lot. Going to be some serious damage from this one.

Man this one is going to move some fish South fast. Hopefully people who have thier boats in fare well.

Took a ride down to Falmouth and thru the Heights. The road's under water near the old Maravista. We made it thru and went over to Green Pond for stuffed quahogs. The road was closed on the way back.

Yeah there was a boat in the rocks in Jamestown already....
Fortunetly this is a fast mover, BUT the high surge (3ft) and the onshore SE winds will certainly do some damage!

Just got back from the boatyard. My bow line parted in the middle, my spring line was down to one strand, and my stern line was chafed up bad. Grabbed my extra lines and made new bow and spring, taking some stress off the stern.

The only boat in a slip south of me must have hauled out this week. Dodged a bullet, I guess. Another few minutes and I woudl have been pinned between an expensive boat and a piling.

I got a call earlier this afternoon from a friend who keeps his 28ft center console on a mooring in Chatham.
He got a call from the harbor master that the boat sunk and was upside down
I'm leaving at 4:30am to meet up with him tomorrow and head down there to try to get it to land!:(

Next was South Cape Beach. Parking lot was already being eaten away at and taken into the sea.

I was at the new Save The Bay headquarters building in Providence. It's located on a point just north of the Edgewood Yacht Club and the front of the building is all glass and it faces south. The waves were at least seven feet and the floating dock was bobbing up and down to the point where I'm surprised it didn't break up. The standing water that had accumulated near the Port of Providence turned the area into a lake and I'm surprised my Durango made the crossing.

Nasty day!

Makes ya wonder why save the bay built a 'green' building in the flood plain, huh?

Just got back from a walk on the Newport Cliff Walk and Ocean Drive. Water is wild and looks like chocolate milk. Going to take a while for this to settle out and water clarity to become normal. A good time to reload and get ready for the next few weeks.
