View Full Version : MSBA 54th Annual Charity Tournament
BasicPatrick 06-07-2002, 01:37 PM Well Folks,
The dates have been set and the Committee is hard at work. The 5th Annual MSBa weekend long Boat & Shore Tournament will be held from 5am Friday August 23 to Sunday August 25the with the Awards Ceremony that Sunday early evening. $1000 Grand Prize for combined bass 7 Blue... It looks like 20 places for Bass and 20 places for Blue just like last year. $25 per person $15 for Juniors. T-shirts for all who enter. All proceeds after expenses will got to the Shriner's Burns Hospital for Children. Pass the Pogies and spread the word.
JohnR 06-10-2002, 11:14 AM Kool - I'll get this up on the Calendar for August... Looks like I might miss the LI Sound WICC Blue Tourney though, shucks darn (I acutally like that tourney too)....
Patrick:
Sounds good, but i am wondering if landlocked members typically team up with boat owners if they want to join in boat fishing?
I may have a problem with my usual mates that weekend..
BasicPatrick 06-10-2002, 04:12 PM Van,
Strabge Teamates have tournaments made in the past. However, I would not give up on the Surf thing. 2 of the Four Years have seen the big Bass come from a surf dude.
JohnR 06-10-2002, 04:19 PM Patrick - you alright? Yer typing sound like Yoda "Hmmm, Strange Teamates have tournaments made in past" :laughs:
Van, he's right. I think the Big Kahuna has won it twice so far, he got it 2 years ago...
mar t 06-10-2002, 06:53 PM hey patrick,
that sounds great, were in,
who do i talk to ,how do i get in and where do i fish,i just finished enjoying the first get together and can't what to do it again....

Registrations will be out in your local MA Tackle Shop on or before August 1st....Everyone can help us out by making sure that your local Tackle Shop is involved.....To sell registrations and be a Weigh Station a local shop must be a "Supporter" of the Tournament. This is the smallest level of Sponsorship that requires a cash only donation of a minimum $100. There are other levels of Sponsorship for companies interested. Each level has an increased advertising package linked to it.

mikecc 06-11-2002, 08:39 PM Am I to understand that the tournament now includes the west side of the canal to the Islands
BasicPatrick 06-12-2002, 09:22 AM Yes Mike,
This years tournament will be open to ALL MA waters. Squibby, back side of Nantucket, Nauset, etc, etc, etc. This change has been made for three reasons. 1) No way to make sure the fish were caught on the bayside anyway, though you could make the same arguement for the MA waters bit......2) Multiple requests to open it up from people who fish the tournament....3) More Area open, More people fishing, More money for the children. Our members are all over the state and so is our tournament.

PATRICK!!!
FISH FROM THE SHORE !!!! :smash:
I don't even own a surf rod!!!!
21' of fishing machine pushed by 175 HP of pure fuel injected power is what I'm talkin' bout !!!! :D
Seriously though,
My issue is that my fishing buddy is on vacation that week, so I may ask for volunteers to join me in the boat. Maybe I could ask at the next meeting.

I was told by members of your club today that you could weigh a fish at any shop . This would eliminate the sponsors("Supporters Roll").
Whats going on.
Cullen L. won last years 1st youth division & wants to know when
the fish mount will be done.
I guess nobody is answering his calls.
BasicPatrick 06-27-2002, 09:32 PM MikeCC & anyone else interested,
Basic Patrick here, & for those who do not know who I am, I am the President of MSBA. The info you were given regarding weigh stations in our 5th Annual Charity Tournament is not correct. To be a registration and/or weigh station, the business MUST be at least and an event supporter. The member who gave you that info was probably confusing the
Annual Club Derby with the weekend long charity tournament.
With regard to the Fish mount, I found out about this post only this evening and can assure you that no MSBA Officer, the MSBA Hotline, nor the MSBA Web Sight has received any correspondance regarding the mount not being completed. I can further attest to seeing the first place adult mount in person recently. I have already made a call this evening and left a message inquiring about the Junior's mount. I would only add that the average mount takes about a year. I will post an update regarding this subject tomorrow.
I am very concerned that this issue was put out in public without a call being made to MSBA.
BasicPatrick 06-28-2002, 07:59 AM Follow up,
I called T & M Taxidermy last night around 10pm. At 8:15 this morning I received a return call from Tom, the owner. Tom reports that indeed, the Junior's mount has not yet been completed, however should be done soon. He will be calling the Parents to give them an update. I will choose to avoid getting into specifics of any Tournament Sponsor's business, however I do know that many people who are not familiar with the amount of time it takes to get a mount completed are suprised when they find out that a year is about average.
BasicPatrick 07-09-2002, 09:59 AM To All interested,
Sea Tow has come on Board as a Major Sponsor,
There will be special cash awards for Sea Tow Members only. The top three Striped Bass caught by Sea Tow members will receive cash awards.
JohnR 07-09-2002, 12:06 PM That's cool that Sea Tow is sponsoring the MSBA Tourney...
For you S-B'rs that are thinking about the Mass Striped Bass Assoc, they also get group rates with Sea Tow - just something to think about....
BTW - Patrick, you ever pull the trigger on the new rig?
Now all I need to do is catch a big fish during an actual tournament !!!!!!:smash:
Usually it is the week before and the week after !
BasicPatrick 07-11-2002, 03:19 PM John,
Not yet. Basic is going in the water after we get done with ASA this weekend. Looking like the Fall will be the time for the second edition of Basic Boat.
Hey, I here you are going to join the A Team at an upcoming Tournament.
