the mini video on CNN talks about breast cancer survivors
getting taught to flyfish following radiation and or masectomy's
to lift their spirits and the many beneficial social aspects too.
not to mention that the walking prevents more cancer.

it was subsidized at $1000.00 dollars per individual
and yet 800 women were turned down....

it would seem that there's a definate need for more
women to be taught by either other women or men
on their own outside of this program.

There's a group that helps individuals with these issues just the way you mentioned. Its called "Casting for Recovery". I donated a charter to them two years ago for a raffle. Its set up alot like TU's in the sense that each state has a chapter, the level of involvement depends on the people in the chapter.
If you do a search for Casting for Reovery, visit their web site. The chapter I donated to was in LI. The CT chapters were not as active, But just as important. The more bucks they raise the more women can attend. Orvis has been a big corporate sponsor them.
Don't have the link at this computer, I have some brochures that explain their mission and values. They depend on these donations and the volunteers to instruct these ladies on the finer points of fishing at a stage in their life that it all meens much more.
