Did anyone see this chart published by the NY Times the other day? It's from a very recent Pentagon presentation on the situation in Iraq.

For the past 2 years we've been told numerous stories on how things are getting better. Just this week Bush said we're winning in Iraq.

I'm not just posting this for political points, I'm serious here...and you're focused on a stupid John Kerry gaff?

much like our basketball in the olympics.

Godbless all those who have lost their lives and their families and loved ones in Iraq and Afghanistan and all the secret ops losses as well.

What a long strange trip it has been and will continue to be for unseen years to come.

Godbless us all

Kind of looks like a well to do gopher sneaking out of his tunnel on the Bush spread in Texas

What I would lie to know is when is some AAG, going to have enough balls to file charges against the NY times and its editors for aiding and abetting the enemy by releasing all of these classified documents and secrets? If there is ever another terrorist attack, and I'm sure there will be, the NY Times is going to have more blood on its hands than anyone else, except for the perpertraors.

So it's more upsetting that the NYT reported this story, than the fact that Bush continues to misrepresent what they're being told?

Wonder how many Troop deaths can be attributed to the NYT and those who support them.

Care to compare that to the troops killed by arrogant and reckless foreign policy?

I guess the difference between you and I is the point that I blame troop deaths on the enemies killing them.

It'd be a pretty boring existence if we all agreed on everything. And as much as I like to devour Spences lame arguments I think he's a decent guy even though he wasn't raised properly and his values are skewed.

It's kinda like this

President Bush and that moron Condoleeza Rice are sitting in a bar.

A guy walks in and asks the barman, "Isn't that Bush and Rice sitting over there?"

The barman says, "Yep, that's them."

So the guy walks over and says, "Wow, this is a real honor. What are you guys doing in here?"

Bush says, "We're planning WW III ".

And the guy says, "Really? What's going to happen?"

Bush says, "Well, we're going to kill 140 million Iraqis this time and one bicycle repairman."

The guy exclaimed, "A bicycle repairman? Why kill a bicycle repairman?

Bush turns to Rice, punches her on the shoulder and says, "See, smart ass! I told you no one would worry about the 140 million Iraqis!"

Whether we are or not I'm not sure. I do know though that across the street from the P.D. I work at is a baseball field and a guy who was behind me a few years in high school erected the well-known display with the baseballs inside the cabinet with all the dead g.i.'s name on the balls. He and his friend that does the fancy writing on the balls stopped adding the deceased names quite a while ago I believe it became simply too difficult emotionally. Even though it has been there for quite some time every once in awhile a mother and/or father or friend come into our station and ask it location. Most of you saw this on ESPN or somewhere else. The other day a guy came in asking where it was and I pointed it out to him. He was a guy who wasn't too tall, and walked with a limp. I knew his son or daughters name was on one of the balls. That is easy to tell. I walked part way with him because as soon as he saw it behind the first base dugout it kind of took his breath away. After he got on the other side of the street and actually in the park he was o.k. His wife met him part way and they finished the walk together. I think just about every parent and many friends from all over who childs name is on display has been there. Some of them even want to speak with the two guys whose idea it was to do this. I have permission from one guy to give his name and number. Not on of these paeople have said anything one way or the other about the war, not one.

I've never heard of that before... that's neat. Not sure I'd talk war either after that kind of trauma though.. I'm sure there are some who would be pro and some con... however sad, I don't think that's a good ruler to measure this by.

spence

I think different people deal with issues in various ways. I can certainly understand the trauma that families and friends go through...at least as best I can.

But they could go the other direction as well, like Cindy Sheehan who went off the deep end...although perhaps she was pushed!

It was once said that evil will prevail as long as good men continue to do nothing. That alone is justification for a voice...and there's a lot of evil to go around.
