install water filtration systems and/or drill wells? bougt a house a few months ago in lakeville and i need a filtration system due to the iron in my water. i have a shallow well that i think also needs to go deeper so i can get more gpm to actually filter my water. figured i'd ask on here before i go and get someone else. you know how it goes, you get something done and then mention it to someone and he says "why didn't you tell me first?" i'll deal with the seller, agent and home inspector later i just want this done soon. (was not told about any of this but was on file as needing it done at the board of health.) thanks.

Did you have your water tested, I just installed one in an elder care place.
and have had training in filtration. first you have to get the water tested then see what is needed to treat the water. some time just a softener other times you have to nutralize(spelling?) the water before the softener.
knowing what is needed is your first step.

yup, had it tested. went to corcoran plumbing on rte. 18 and they came to the house. i guess this area is known for it's water issues. he's put in a silly number of systems. what i need is a new well cap, a deeper well, a pump in my well, a 4' trench to the house for 220 volt and the water pipe, a bigger pump in my basement and the filtration system. i guess water softener, salt tablets just won't cut it. i lived for 3 years about 2.5 miles away and drinking water from the tap was like poland springs. :huh:

Your probably looking at $10,000.00 plus for all that work.
the salt is just for cleaning the beads inside the softener.
I would suggest having your realestate agent get some money
back from the seller, that's what I did when the built in pool
liner was ripped and the seller said it was fine.

get 3 prices and take the middle one. I live to far from you
unless you buy the system have it there and then I install it

Not sure where you are but if feasible I'd get West End Drilling from Carver in on the bid process. They've done quite a bit of work for me and always came in substantially less than others for quality work.

get on 44 at rte 58, go to middleboro and then 7 minutes on rte. 18 into lakeville. carver is close enough. thanks. definitely will be getting some money back, won't be easy though. i'll worry about it after i get the job done. thanks.

thats terrible .. im on county rd in lakeville and ive got that "poland springs" water as well.. i also lived on howland and the water there was just the same.... id get a second opinion about the water before jumping into that mess

my water is basically orange. stains the tile in the shower, clothes, etc. and tastes aweful. my brother is 4 streets up from me, about a mile and his water is perfect.

how deep are the wells there?

because you need to get an idea of how
deep your water table is.... to have an
idea how deep the well drillers will have to
drill... since... they charge by depth.

my house is in an association with about 30 others. there were only 2 with shallow wells. mine and my neighbors. he just bought his house too and had to do the same thing. he's actually putting in a new septic too. i haven't met him yet, i guess he comes by for a few hours a week and does some work to the house but i am always at work so i keep missing him.

My h2o is harder than a rock. I also have a shallow well. Have wanted to put a new well in for 10 years but too rich for my blood right now. Neighbor just put one in. 550' deep.
