Thats the trailing edge of a front that we went through during a delivery this past spring. This was on the west side of the Gulf Stream so it was fresh and had a ton of power built up already. It was 6 hours of sustained 50 knots, but it was so localized and concentrated it knocked the seas flat. It also had constant lightning which you couldn't hear because of the wind, but was all around. The clouds were so thick and clustered even running the radar out to 24 miles you couldn't tell where the edges of clouds were to try to pick your way through the cell cores. Needless to say we punched through intact. It was a long night.
