Heard the Blip! sound while unloading the boat at the dock. Didn't think much of it until I went to unlock my truck.:( Yep, truck keys in about 12' of water in Menemsha. Poked around with a net that had a boat hook taped on as an extension pole and did nothing but stir up the bottom.
Went back 2 days later at low tide with a peeper and a calm rake and after about a 1/2 hour of pulling up some nasty smelling goop I got them. Keys looked like they were down there for a loooong time, all stained and tarnished.

The weird thing was I hit the unlock button on the key fob and it worked!!! I took it apart and cleaned it anyway but I thought that was pretty amazing.

wow that is some story.

I was crosscountry sking near my camp in Rangely Maine a few years ago and lost my keys. It was about a 2 or 3 mile hike back to the cabin and it was cold as the Maine woods can be. Also that was the only set of keys that we had with us. My wife was a lifesaver. She reminded me that about 4 miles back on the track we took, I gave everyone some hard candy and probably the keys were in that pocket and they fell out then. We backtracked our trail and she stopped me and said the keys were right in that area. I carefully looked for a hole where the keys were dropped and was lucky enough to find them. Had to dig down through a lot of snow to recover them. I now secure the keys to the pocket with the loops provided.

I wonder if it would have been easier to dive in and feel around for them. Water is a little chilly for that though.

I lost some keys while snowmobiling on a lake. Had to get a ride the half hour home to get the spare. Two days later while ice fishing same lake I stepped on my keys half burried in the snow. They still worked.

Jim, any luck?
