I just finished the last episode of the "The Wire". Best HBO series IMO.
Now that it's over....what's next? Can yo guys recommend some good movies, tv series on dvd, etc? I need something to get me through the winter.:bsod:

I can only watch Stripers Gone Wild so many times.

:thanks:

Battlestar Galactica is FANTASTIC
Start from Season 1

The new Dr. Who series is awesome too.
S.2 was better than S.1, but it isnt out on DVD yet.

Just watched Band of Brothers.....that was excellent.

Also got around to watching the 1st season of 24.....another great take. If you haven't watched any 24 yet get cracking on those so you can watch the series premier in January.

Go back and revisit the classics....or at least some semi older movies.

Band of Brothers is a great choice, my personal favorite. Curb Your Enthusiasm is really funny. I just got hooked on the Everest show on TDC, it's on tonight. I also like Ghost Hunters on SciFi. Ghost Hunters is over for the season currently but these guys/girls are from RI and they are very good at what they do.

Don't sell your local public library short, either. I used to laugh at my dad when he said he got videos from the library, but then I walked throuygh that section of my own and they actually had a lot of cool stuff. Series, how-to's, and old, new, and obscure movies, not the usual Blockbuster offerings. They also have books there, too.

BSG - unless you have been watching it you must start from the beginning. A couple points in the story are crude but it is really well written and pretty stinkin' good. Especially if you followed the original series back in the late 70s...

Anyone that has not watched Band of Brothers really should do so. Granted it is Hollywood, but it takes you deeper into these guys and WW2 than anything I've seen. Ten hours or so of high quality, inspiring, respectful, riveting history based really on real events.

To expand on B of B, Flags of our Fathers was a great book. Didn't see the movie however. I"m into that Everest show on Dsc too.

I consider myslef a non-tv guy too. But recenlty I have been hooked by two hours everynoight of comedy central.
8am - Daily Show
8:30 - Colbert report
9pm - Chapelle Show
9:30 - South Park
I laugh for a solid 2 hours!

As far as B of B, I got the dvds a few years back for Christmas, I must have watched it 30 times. There are so many times I get tears in my eyes, dont know how those guys made it through that stuff.
