Wondering about your left coast striper fishery. Obvious Things like: Where you catch them...? Techniques?Best Plugs? Any nice pictures of good surf and fish catching.... If you're ever "bored" and want to lay a travelogue on us poor New Englanders etc... I'm very interested! Surf Hunter 12-08-2006, 01:30 PM Beautiful Plug! I wish wewere still catching in the surf right now, there are always some resident hold over fish but like this weekend, we have 10-15 foot waves, not nice to fish eh? Now is the time to hit the bays and the delta with the fish migrating back in. We usually go with really light tackle 10lb test this time of the year in the bays and play with schoolies. Our surf season usually begins around March and lasts up to October depending on weather. Most guys out here are lead freaks using mickie jigs but to me, that ain't no fun. I love pencils, we fish pencils even when we are getting 4-6 foot swells. As long as you have about 8 seconds between sets, you are good. pikies are another fun one, specially with nut jobs (I mean that in a nice way) like Winch, who loves to swim out in heavy surf to variouse rocks. hope that gives you a lil insight. Charleston 12-08-2006, 04:03 PM Hey! There's fish in Jersey :) Ake G 12-10-2006, 09:29 AM Thanks Surf Hunter...I get the idea!! I may be making a trip Feb/March and was curious if I should pack gear or not. Surf Hunter 12-11-2006, 11:15 AM Thanks Surf Hunter...I get the idea!! I may be making a trip Feb/March and was curious if I should pack gear or not. Where are you going in Cali? that can mean the difference right there. March is the start, but weather can be really odd that time of year. It could be nice, or like last year, it could rain for 30 days strait. the bays usually offer some fihsing then as the bass are migrating out to the ocean. Let me know some of the plans and maybe I can help you more. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
