I have a question on EPRIBS. I mainly fish the South shore area
as far south to the CapeCod Canal,Billingsgate area and several times during the season to ,Race point and Stellwagon depending on weather conditions .My boat is a 23' 1996 proline
W.A with a single O.B all in top notch condition.Electronics include
Raytheon SL 72 Radar new this year interfaced to a Garmin 210 Chart plotter and for a back up a hand held Garmin 48 . I also have a hand held APELCO VHF as a back up for my hard wired VHF
radio.
This past weekend 4 guys were lost in a Shark Tournement out
of Long Island N.Y. The men were in a 25'Wellcraft in 6-8'seas.
According to the news reports the C.G picked up a Mayday earlier in the AM then lost the signal.Latter that evening, the family reported the boat over due. As of today no sight of the men nor there boat. C.G spokes men are talking about EPRIBS and got me thinking about my own safety. Any members with any thoughts
about the new 406/GPS ERPIBS $1200 dollars or so or the 125
ERPIBS that do not have the precision location as the 406 and runs about $300 or so. I don't know if I am getting paranoid.

Get one, it will be the best investment you have ever made. Think about it.

It sounds like you have a good array of electronics going for you and to compliment them with an EPIRB I think is perfect. I think you can get a decent one for around 5-600.
It will give your family peace of mind also.
