Paracord butt wraps
View Full Version : Cord pics Krispy 12-19-2006, 11:20 PM Paracord butt wraps Krispy 12-19-2006, 11:21 PM pic MrHunters 12-20-2006, 07:51 AM the whole rod building portion of this recreation is still amazing to me. I would have no idea where to begin. Goose 12-20-2006, 08:10 AM Looks great. A little blurry..did you go over it with shrink tube, big weight difference? What kinda rod? Krispy 12-20-2006, 09:13 AM No shrink wrap, thats straight black paracord. Its very light, about the same weight as a wrap of cork tape. The spiral wrapped cord is nice in the hand, very comfortable ribbed feeling. RIROCKHOUND 12-20-2006, 09:54 AM Krispy, what did you underwrap or overcoat on it to keep it in place.. I was talking to a buddy when we were on the block about doing this with some of my heavier conventionals stripersnipr 12-20-2006, 10:10 AM The first picture looks like cork tape under the cord. Is that right? Krispy 12-20-2006, 11:08 AM Yes, the spiral pic was a rod that was extended 5", with 2 layers of cork tape. So far I have not glued down the cord. The black cord rod has one wrap over itself and then all the way down the rod. Its held w/ electrical tape at the handle(which Ill thread wrap and epoxy over) and held by the butt cap at the bottom. It was wrapped very tight, and the cord shrinks some after it gets a little wet to make it even tighter. It doesnt move. One nice thing about the cord over cork, esp. on conventional jigging rods is that it doesnt wear your waders or top, and doesnt wear thin like cork tape can. It also glides over clothing, wear cork tape pulls at your sleeves or legs when shifting positions. Next Im gonna try doing a full cord wrap over an inner spiraled length of cord, using 2 colors for the over wrap RIROCKHOUND 12-20-2006, 11:50 AM Cool.. how much chute cord did you use (lengthwise) to wrap? (roughly..) Looks like a good post holiday project... cool idea.. and looks less slippery than cork tape when you have S--D Scales on your hands :bl: reelecstasy 12-20-2006, 01:24 PM Very cool, nice work.. They sell tons of colors too RIROCKHOUND 12-21-2006, 06:28 AM Nice.. thanks Krispy... tynan19 12-21-2006, 02:21 PM Looks Ninja! t.orlando 12-21-2006, 11:07 PM Good work, now I changed my mind and would like my rod back:cheers: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
