View Full Version : paashe vl#3 VS badger anthem 155
stripercrazy 12-25-2006, 09:13 AM which one do you guys like better, I have to replace the nose parts on my anthem...20.00 bucks... new brush is like 50.....I may just get another 155 or change to the vl#3..if I'm right the paashe will let me buy different size needle and tips/head combos... is the vl a better gun? merry x-mas ed:cheers:
crash 12-25-2006, 09:29 AM I only have the VL, so can't give you a comparison, but I like it. You can buy different tips/needles from dixieart, I have all three sizes, its nice to have the choice. Not sure how it stacks up against the others, I'm sure there are better ones out there, I just got a good deal on the VL, and i does everything I'll ever need out of an airbrush.
Tagger 12-25-2006, 10:40 AM I'm trying the Iwata bcs ,,, alot of peoples work I admire use it .. I've been using the badger crescendo 155 since I started ..rebuilt it once . served me well but looking to get fine dots with the airbrush .. not drill bits or pencil erasers.I like the brushed feathered look ... just another option .
surfer4life52 12-25-2006, 11:13 AM I've got the bcs too:humpty:
ThrowingTimber 12-26-2006, 10:13 AM paashe is junk.
justplugit 12-26-2006, 10:57 AM Badger crescendo also. Like Tagger says dots are tricky but the brush keeps on tickin and takes a good lickin.
Price is right too when you use the Michaels 50% coupon.
BTW- the thing it lacks is the permanent gravity feed which i would like to have
for quick cleaning and color change.
gldnbear93 12-26-2006, 12:22 PM Has anybody used the badger 360? It has gravity and siphon feed. I have a 155 and it works fine.
ThrowingTimber 12-26-2006, 05:59 PM If you just want to switch up ed, look at the iwata revolution.
eastendlu 12-26-2006, 06:25 PM Hey Ed talk to Charleston i think he has one new in the box covered with inches of dust on it.
stripercrazy 12-26-2006, 11:31 PM 50.00 gift card for ac moore... saturday 50% off, it the time of year club dues are due...3 clubs= 200.00 bucks:rollem:
Labrador1 12-26-2006, 11:46 PM Ed - buy a decent brush! Iwata is a great brush - my go to brush these days. But for what you are doing the Badger 360 is worth a look. Hey - your cranking out enough these days - buy them both and then you be the judge! By the way - was talking about twinkles again the other night :).

Check these out. I have 3 IWATA's and have been using the "Peaks" for a year with no issues.
The X-3 compares to the IWATA BCS. The top feeds excel in detail work.
Good price, great product!!!

Tagger 12-27-2006, 05:24 PM Peak look good ,, Are they rebuildable ? Parts readily available ? or throw aways ?
Bernzy 12-28-2006, 06:54 PM Tagger,
The parts for the Peak X-3 appear to be identical to the Iwata BCS Eclipse. The needle, nose cone assemblies etc., swap out.
Check with BearAir to confirm. But no, definitely not a throw away.
It's a great brush for the bux.
I think, maybe, a private brand Eclipse clone.

Tagger 12-28-2006, 07:05 PM found the parts ... maybe I say Peak ... I 'm in the middle of an order dixie ..when seeing this ..

Tagger 01-08-2007, 05:00 PM Just got the Peak 3 in the mail today .. Plus a $25.00 1 st time buyer gift ...dvd from leading airbrush artist ,,How to ... and a bottle of createx air brush cleaner .. and a $10.00 gift cupon on next purchase ... pretty good didn't expect nothing ... brush feels good .. Already see an improvement over Badger .. You can drop it and not bend the needle ... The needle is not exposed .. fine dots and lines will be the test ,,.,

I'm still going to pic up an Iwata sometime .. probably never use it ,,but, you know ..
Rockfish9 01-09-2007, 03:43 PM How is it that like everything else in this "hobby" we end up collecting more things than we realy need, air brushes seem to be no different.... I've got 3 badgers, a 360 that is a total piece of dog do, I did better with rattle cans, but it was my first air brush...
I then bought a cresendo 175, not a bad brush, but heavy,it's biggest downfall as Tagger said, is the bent needles...I'm far to clumsy to be near something that delicate, besides, I hate needles, especialy stuck in my hide!
I bought a Badger 150, I like it alot, it's been trouble free for over a year, paints fine detail and the needle is sheltered, my only complaint would be the need to scrape the needle during fine work with some paints after a half dozen dots or a thin line, it seems to be mostly red and black and may not be the fault of the brush... but all the Iwata talk has got me thinking......My biirthdays coming up, may have to put a bug in the boss ladies ear!
