Still think global warming is a myth? Were they saying this in 1950 when the original high temperature for this day was set or 1916 before that? Are Denver and the plain states on board with your theory? I'm not saying its something that should be shrugged off, I just would't go chaining yourself to any SUV's just yet. chris L 01-04-2007, 03:52 PM its natures way of making things even . this is our turn to have a warm winter . hell SC got more snow than us so far this year . saves me from having to go south for the winter . the birds also get to save flight time . likwid 01-04-2007, 05:09 PM National Weather Service gray ME 1130 am EST Thu Jan 4, 2007 The year 2006 in Portland Maine will go into the record books as the warmest year on record. Yup.Global warming is not caused by man in any significant way. The earth is in a cycle of global warming that has very little to do with man.Man has accelerated a cyclic process by a mere couple of hundred years that has been in motion for time and again for 100s of millions of years.Man's contribution to this cycle is insignificant. The earth is 4 BILLION years old! When man is gone the earth WILL recover.Hate to let you down but humans just aren't that important. Signed, Albert Arnold Gore Jr. tynan19 01-04-2007, 11:22 PM El Nino. Bart, if you drive about a 45 minutes North into the Twin Mntn or a little farther to Pittsburg there may be a little snow left. Anyways check out Horsefeathers in downtown N. Conway. pmueller 01-04-2007, 11:46 PM Horsefeathers, mmmm one of my old time favorites. Back in the day. tattoobob 01-05-2007, 12:02 AM Looks like some droughts coming in the spring, there will be no melt off and the rivers will almost die off unless we get a rainy spring up north, like last spring. the bunker and herring runs will suffer JohnR 01-05-2007, 08:26 AM This time - El Nino It's the acceleration of what would be the normal Earth's warming and cooling process which seems to be caused by man. But shouldn't we err on the side of caution? If we screw this up, we're screwed. Looks like some droughts coming in the spring, there will be no melt off and the rivers will almost die off unless we get a rainy spring up north, like last spring. the bunker and herring runs will suffer Hope this does not happen... crash 01-05-2007, 08:57 AM All I know is that my hunting season was royally screwed up. But since I hate winter, I'm fine with that. MarshCappa 01-05-2007, 09:23 AM People that invested in Ski Seaon Passes are really pissed. Usually I ski anywhere between 10-30 times a year and usually have a couple or more days under my belt by this time. I'm at zero days now and with no plans in the works to go. I only hope this dosn't make for an extended winter. But this weather makes me want to get my fishing gear out of the shed in search of holdovers. fishpoopoo 01-05-2007, 10:53 AM personally i like the warmer weather (hate winter and hate heating bills). el nino is the biggest driver here. who knows if greenhouse gas emissions are really causing all of this (and i'm all for being green in this regard) - there are natural cyclical forces at play too. i heard that NYC is going to his SEVENTY degrees this Saturday (Jan 6 in the year of our lord 2007). :jester: these warm temperatures are driving oil and natgas prices down - nice for the pocketbook. should see gasoline prices drop too. bart 01-05-2007, 11:29 AM El Nino. If the itch is bad enough that's one way to scratch it. Me, I'll give up skiing for the lower heating bills. likwid 01-05-2007, 02:30 PM Utah's season has sucked so far also. Way better in CO. Europe is slowly shaping up. likwid 01-05-2007, 03:23 PM There was also a dearth of snow in northern Maine, with Caribou getting only 42.2 inches during the year. Meteorologists said the previous low snowfall amount for a calendar year occurred in 1987, when Caribou got 75.8 inches. 87 wasn't an El Nino year... tynan19 01-05-2007, 05:06 PM tourist trap and overpriced. red parka/moat mtn brewing company/wildcat tavern Food is great and love the upstairs atmosphere. :buds: Raven 01-05-2007, 05:32 PM personally i like the warmer weather (hate winter and hate heating bills). el nino is the biggest driver here. who knows if greenhouse gas emissions are really causing all of this (and i'm all for being green in this regard) - there are natural cyclical forces at play too. i heard that NYC is going to his SEVENTY degrees this Saturday (Jan 6 in the year of our lord 2007). :jester: these warm temperatures are driving oil and natgas prices down - nice for the pocketbook. should see gasoline prices drop too. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ the thing is.... that nature will have to make up for a lack of snow this winter with more rainfall iin the spring, summer , and fall... with bigger storms and more extreme weather events...
