Old Buddy Rich showing off for some high school kids ''' I was surprised at Max Roach lame high hat work .. Buddy commonly played the high hat from underneath too ... nice symbol work here .. I could see Buddy as Zappas drummer ...

Terry Bozzio was a real sleeper .. His band was Missing Persons ,,the one with the chic lead singer.. basic top 40 band .:yak6: The gurl was beautiful and scantily clad .. I never noticed they even had a drummer.. I wasn't crazy about the band ... I think his best work was with Zappa ... Saw him last year play The Black Page ,,, still unbalievable ... here's a bio

Buddy Rich--great talent but an absolutely horrid human being, and the biggest prick in the business to work for.

Ed Shaugnessey from the original Tonight Show band was a very good, and vastly underrated, drummer

if yer talkin Jazz and mentioning Buddy Rich, you cant leave off Max Roach. Buddy was great, but dated. The bop drummers took it to a new level.

For rock, I like the guys with style, ones you can hear and intsantly know who they are. For me, JOhn Bonham and Stuart Copeland (police).

Thanks Karl, some great memories there. If i'm not mistaken, that was Dizzy Gillespie on the horn in part 1.Part 2 had alot of Cole.

Saw a drum battle between Cole and Krupa at the Metropole in NY with both of them behind the bar so close ya could touch them. :hihi:

Good times there with all the greats, Satchmo Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton to name a few. Different times, but great music. :)
