Anybody have or know of a decent Excel based fishing log?

IMHO, it seems like the best approach would be to pick a manageable number of variables and name your columns after them. Then make sure that you enter your data in a consistent format and presto, you have your sortable excel based logbook. Nothing too fancy, but certainly functional and would do the trick.

I think the hard part is to try to boil down the number of variables that you plan to use...I have a problem with that...too many variables....

I have a very simple solution. Keep an eye in the banner ad above over the next couple weeks. You will know it when you see it.

I am not a big fan of computer logs....tried many of them....to much like work and most of the stuff is useless IMO. You really don't need to keep all those details like that. It is overkill and doesl not make any sense, moreover you will become disinterested in keeping a log and ruin the point of the entire thing. It has got to be quick and simple and useful over time.

What I do is really simple... is not a heavy duty, it is cheap and it works...recently I made it more apealing in the process for others tp use. Keep an eye out:eyes:

I once constructed a database program fishing log on software called ClarisWorks. I no longer have that program, but it worked very nicely. You could search it by location, month, weather conditions, etc. I liked it.

I dont keep my log (which I started in 1972) on the 'puter (seeing I've only been using one for a little over three years) what I do, and have been doing for over 20 years is keep the needed info on index cards, they are kept in a small plastic index card box, labeld by year, they dont take up alot of space and are easy to acess, most importantly they are easy to keep, so writing the details of a nights/days fishing is not a chore.....
