View Full Version : Best Boat Lenders & Insurers
Got Stripers 01-11-2007, 07:19 AM Ok, since I hope to have my sights set on a boat by spring, I need to start to look at securing a loan and insurance. The last few boat deals I've been involved with all came with dealer loan companys in tow, but this time around I'm likely buying from John Q public. Any recommendations on lenders?
I'll hope my insurance company has travelers, as I've had good luck with them in the past, but what about boat insurance companies, who are the good, the bad and the ugly?
Tight lines.
blaruffa 01-11-2007, 02:20 PM Sterling Assoicates, they are located in Whitnsville, MA, great rates. Ask for Chris Stevens. I used them last year to buy my Seapro. They were excellent.
www.boatbanker.com or Tel. (800) 286-8073
For boat insurance I Loved Boat US, they have the best policies and prices arround. My homeowers and umbrella policy company made me switch and I don't get half of the benefits, like I did with Boat US.

I used him as well an excellent guy and a great bank.
Flaptail 01-12-2007, 09:41 AM Our Teachers Credit Union is awesome, six years max and rates like a car loan, if you are in education and have an account with your credit union it's the best deal in town (cept of course if you have two kids in college at the same time, even a1% over six wouldn't help)
Uncle Matt 01-12-2007, 10:20 AM I used a guy named Greg from Customer One at the Providence boat show in 2003. I didn't know any better and I went with the first booth I saw. The paperwork part was slow but we got it done. Next time I'm trying Sterling Associates. I've heard nothing but great things about them.

Same here, used Chris and he came to my work during lunch to close the deal/sign paperwork.
MakoMike 01-12-2007, 04:01 PM I used Essex Credit. They are a broker and also took care of all the peperwork to document the boat and file the marine Mortgage. As far as insurance goes, I use a broker, Al Mott from Huntington New York, he specializes in boat insurance and always comes up with the best deals.
