Does it seem odd to anyone else that these amazing players...

Cal Ripken Jr.
Nolan Ryan
Ted Williams
Mickey Mantle
Joe DiMaggio
Lou Gehrig

There are others... but not ONE of them was voted into the HOF unanimously!? What self righteous #^&#^&#^&#^& reporter could say with honesty that any one of these guys does not belong in the HOF? I'm sure it happens in all sports but Baseball is what I know. That really blows me away..

That list is among some of the most respected players ever. That's pretty sad if that the case. I wonder what the voters will do when Bonds is on deck.

No one has ever been unanimously elected. I think there's some kind of unwritten rule among the writers.

545 writers this year....do the math! What are the odds each and every one of them will select someone unanimously? Pretty small I think!

I think it dates back to the start. One or two writers might have accidently left Babe Ruth off their ballot, and since then, the thinking might be, if Ruth wasn't a unanimous choice, no one else deserves to be. Or maybe one or two disapproved of Ruth's lifestyle

Would they please finally put Jim Rice in next year. He was the man growing up when I was a kid. He's got the numbers.

How could anyone pass by any one of those guys though? What's their thought process? "How about that Ripken?"... "Naw, consecutive game record, 400+ HRs, countless Allstar selections, gold gloves, stand up guy, modest guy, I don;t think he deserves MY vote this year." I can't imagine anyone not voting for these guys... If this "unwritten law" weren't in place I'd be surprised to find out that it wasn't unanimous if there 5000 voters. :laughs:

Remember Dave....you can only pick so many from the field of nominees.....so thats how nobody gets unanimous selection...not to mention you will always have one writer with a grudge or something!

Yea I know... and I understand that with most guys and I'm not gonna start writing letters or anything like that :laughs:... I just find it funny... especially with guys like that.... no-brainers y'know.?..

Clemens will be a could test for the unanimous thing in the next few years - unless something comes out about steroids.

Tough to argue with the names on that list though. Except maybe for Ripken who I wouldn't put in the same class as the others.

I agree though Dave....if anyone should have been unanimous....Ripken would have been my choice!

Look who some of these clowns do vote for:

By receiving fewer than 27 votes (less than 5 percent), Orel Hershiser 24 (4.4), Albert Belle 19 (3.5), Paul O'Neill 12 (2.2), Bret Saberhagen 7 (1.3), Jose Canseco 6 (1.1), Tony Fernandez 4 (0.7), Dante Bichette 3 (0.6), Eric Davis 3 (0.6), Bobby Bonilla 2 (0.4), Ken Caminiti 2 (0.4), Jay Buhner 1 (0.2)

Dante Freakin Bichette gets 3 votes? Like every group there are idiots...
