Raven brought up entrapment, so I thought I would post this also.

About twelve to fourteen months ago the registry in Mass. tried to interface its computors, that police officers access, with the computors in repair garages that are used solely in regard to issuing inspection stickers. The reason was because the registry was going to institute revocation procedure of everyones registrations plate who did not get an emissions/safety inspection sticker within the allowed seven days after transfer or purchase of a new or used motor vehicle. They can do this because the inspection sticker process is part of the registration process.
A forty day notification process probably would have been instituted just as is with the plates when insurance policies lapse.

This may or may not come to fruition. When they originally tried to get the computors to make nice with each other it wouldn't work. I don't believe the registry has entirely forgotten about this though. So everyone should remember this when buying or transferring ownership, even if its only within the family.

Raven they actually did interface with all the insurance companies in regard to policies lapsing for non payment. But I know what you mean.
You'd think that a little forethought would have been used when updating in the last few years knowing in the near future the registry wanted this to occur.

Your saying that the company actually picked up the phone and called the police department where you live. Ouch, not very nice.
