i will be out in boston harbor on saturday. i am taking a friend out around the harbor islands. She has never seen the islands other than from a plane. i doubt that i will be able to resist trolling a tube and worm but it is mostly a sightseeing trip. is anyone going to be out there? i will give a call out to s-b members. good luck fishing

FW, i will be on the water by 9:30am. will you still be out there around that time? If your are i will call out on channel 69.

My plan is to be out there early am tomorrow, but probably off the water by 10-11am. I will monitor 69.

However, I'm a little iffy 'cause I tweaked my back last night pulling my a/c window unit out of the attic. Feels alot like a knife in back when I move a certain way, so I'll have to see how it is in the am.

I read your posts and wondered how you did.
I only went out for a short while during midday saturday, did some work on the boat then went out for a ride.

Both Saturday and sunday were consumed by my son's baseball games. BUT THEY DID WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP !!!
So even though we didn't fish it was a splendid weekend...

Fisherwoman I saw your boat on the trailer at the marina. So I guess you came back in early. Opps just realized you did not go out in your boat. DUH.,

KAV I putted by the bay pint marina and saw a proline with twin johnson or evins. at the end of a pier, is that you??

Van, no that isn't me but i know that boat because it is the same as mine. i am in the next club over town river yacht club. i was in bay point a few years back but it is cheaper where i am now.

So how did you do fishing?

I didn't really get much of a chance to fish.

Van, i really didn't fish much either. i trolled a bit around the islands for a while and then spent 30 minutes or so chunking off boston light and got one fish 29 inches. it was a sight seeing trip and ended up being a nice time because the weather finally cooperated on the weekend. yes i agree i will see you out there one of these days.

Mr. Kav, I heard your hail for SB members as I was cranking my boat onto the trailer. By the time I parked my boat to prep for my trip home, I decided not to hail you. I had very little to report and I fished only inside the harbor. Sorry.

Saturday was again very slow. I started off by hitting my favorite rip in Dorchester Bay at first light and hit 3 decent schoolies in 4 or 5 casts. My usual 6" smoke jerkbait. Its pretty shallow water and some poor boat handling and wind put me right onto the spot. Trolling motors are quiet, but in 3 feet of water, they'll still spook the fish when you're on top of them :smash:

I probably could have stuck it out, but some surface activity in the bay pulled me out. Lots of birds, fast moving fish. I had on touch, but its was tough to keep up with the fish and I never hooked up. Then this big boat with some lady tossin' a popper and teaser rig came in and screwed up everything :) Kidding, bumped into FW. Ran over to the airport and we had one really nice blitz with fish boiling are around... had hits on 4-5 straight casts, but never hooked up. Later when checking my bait, it was nearly sliced thru, so there were some blues in there. Thought I heard some snapping jaws as well. I talked to FW later on and she confirmed she saw some blues in with the bass.

Things broke up, so I decided to run up into one of the rivers despite being almost low tide. I almost turned around while I idled up, but headed up anyway. Good plan, 'cause I nailed 5 or 6 in a row in some really skinny water as the water dumped off the mud flats. They were pretty small. Then in a little eddy behind a hump in about 18" of water, I nailed a 25" and then a 22" fish on back to back casts. Both fish came out of the water... funny when bass come up, its like an accident. They looked like someone threw them out and they don't know what to do when airborn. Shake or tail-walk, do something. Anyway, those fish came on a new color combo I picked up from Got Stripers... pearl with clear belly 4 1/2" split tail. It really shows well in the stained water in the rivers and is perfect size for schoolies.

I ran out of water, but had a good 45 minutes of action. Those two decent fish in shallow water made my day... very nice fights.

Headed back out and messed around a bit, but that was about it. Tried alot to get down to marked fish. Marked fish and bait just about everywhere I went... airport, dorch bay, fore river. Tried shads, large grubs, even vertical jigged small plastics. And I tried trolling... no idea what I'm doing, but I was down there and trolled as slow as she goes.

Set the alarm sat night, but made an executive decision at 3:30am and shut it off. Decided to hit the evening tide at my favorite river and wade the flats at dusk. Tides are perfect for that. I hit one fish on a popper and had some boils till the tide had dumped enough to get out on the flat. This flat has some humps and mussel beds, etc. I like to fish weightless jerkbaits on top and had a nice hour and a half till dark, catching 10 and dropping about 4 more. Had some great strikes and most fish were 16-20", with one keeper size that came off as I grabbed the leader. Fish were boiling around me on the flat, so it was a cool evening. Might do it again tonight.

Other than that, I took my daughter to see Scooby Doo... for those that grew up with Scoob and Shag, it was pretty funny. Don't expect any academy awards, but if you just go in to have a good time with your kids, I think you'll like it. My daughter was howlin' the whole movie. It was fun and we topped it off with dinner at Friendly's and a sundae.

i am glad you heard me , i am starting to get discouraged with this because so far i have not gotten an answer since we have been trying this. i guess i will try it a few more times to get an answer, if not i will switch to the cell phone if anyone wants to give that i try i will pm my cell #.

I think cell phone numbers are the way to go.
If you are out there on a weekend, and tell a buddy to met you at a location for some action, be ready for the crowd.

Just too many novices out there who don't know how or where to fish and are not curtious enough (probably obnoxious), and end up spooking the fish anyway.

I have started to store a couple of cell phone numbers, FW was kind enough to obligue.

It could work to hail, find out if anyone is out there, then call.

This sounds pretty good. More discrete... hail on the radio, then if you have some good news, use the phones.

I have one which my wife usually carries (I hate them) and I do take it... but I don't know the number off-hand. Will get it though. FW and I discussed this same scenario.
