Have been eyeing these plans for this 16 footer for a while. Probably one of the nicest lines of a do it yourself type boat I have come accross. One of these winters thinking about building one for the kids and myself for the river.

Yep, nice looking hull if ya don't mind a flat bottom. Great for the river and nice and stable.

I considered that one when I built my little boat but wanted a v hull.

This site has that exact same plan as well, and they have the same boat but in an 18 ft version also. They have some great support with their message board and they are very helpful if you buy the plans from them.

here is the one I built http://www.bmwoodworking.com/gv11.htm

There was another guy who had a site and he sold plans to a lumberyard skiff that was similar but not stitch and glue. He lives near my folks in Sagamore actually.

Looks like a nice "Spit" rig Beamie.

Yea Slip, I was thinking about that bottom, from what I can tell from the write up it looks totally flat. The garvey has at least a bit of a vee under most of the boat and more up the bow to break some waves. Probably nice and stable, just have to put up with the slapping in a little chop like an older whaler. The bottom may help with pulling it up on the marsh and spit though.

I finished off a 14' Garvey down my basement about 5 years ago that was given half done to my buddy. He has since sold it but it was a nice little boat. I just like dory lines a bit better than Garvey lines.

I'd probably either go with a long tiller or low console the height of what a bench type would be. I think it's a bit small for the stand-up console.

I saw that too Tom, not bad, I just want something like that around 28 with a good beam but in an inboard.

Beamie... you always got to throw your 2 feet in.... or is that your 2 cents...

That would be nice with the inboard... no IO
