View Full Version : Ever had this happen to a Bomber?

Not sure of the full story since my 11 year old was the surfcaster in charge here. This past fall, we were on the beach near a jetty in SoCo. He was closest to the rocks. He believes he made a good cast and does remember a slight pull. He didn't think he hit the rocks or got snagged in the jetty. One in six of his casts can go awry (short, high, left or right). So I don't think I have the full story since I didn't see the cast or where it landed (don't think he is sure either). He ended up reeling in the top half, and about 5 or 6 waves later the bottom half came rolling in. Clean break. Inside the tube there are two small round tabs pointing inward from each side. It broke right after these tabs. Doesn't appear to be any pressure marks, dents, or imperfections near the break inside or outside (course i'm no materials expert). Anyone have a similar breakoff?

I've had the hook hangers fall out of a bomber but never anything like that. I could see it happening if it's already cracked.

Not with bombers...
Blew apart a bunch of the Stamina Inc swimmers a few years back, some on fish some on rocks..
that looks like it hit a rock on the fly... my 0.02

Is it me or is there something not quite right about how that plug looks? There's always a possibility that I'm wrong....again, but I'm thinking knockoff.

I thought bombers had three sets of hooks, maybe just some?

It's the 7", 17A, Magnum long "A". I have another I bought a the same time. I also have two Black. I got'em all at repuatble tackle stores throughout the seasons, and they were all in Bomber packages. They all have the same stamp on the butt. Therefore, I don't get the sense that they are knock-offs, unless tackle stores get hosed from time to time.

I did buy another school bus to repalce it at the end of the season and just noticed that the color is a deeper yellow and the gill painting is smaller. Did the Bombers change? Anyway, I think I'm going with the "pre-crack and my son hit the rocks" theory :)

I'm with Spence. Through wire it, and go catch large with it again.

looks like a redfin , not a bomber.

Anyway , drill twp holes and epoxy in a screw eye in each end. Connect the eyes and you go a nice jointed swimmer that will probably catch more fish than the original .

that's amazing! I fish a lot of rocks and I'm broken off a few swimmer plates in my time (which I thought was pretty crazy considering how hard the plastic is on some of them), but that is nuts.
nothing's perfect I guess.

Hi Chris. Your my first post, joined this website 3 hours ago. Yes it happened to me, I was bringing in a large bass and suddenly I didn't feel anything on for a second then it took off again like I had no drag, when I finally beached it I discovered my jointed bomber unjointed leaving the tail part in it's mouth and the head part in it's tail you figure that one out.

Send them to the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC and ask for them to refund you directly. :rocketem:

It's a Bomber. Imprinted on the butt. Making it jointed would be pretty funny, but there is nothing to connect to - it's a tube and I don't have those fine motor skills :rocketem:

FreeportFrank Welcome to the site :claps:

Bombers are hollow that looks like solid injection foam... and those gills do look different. I'm sure its a Bomber though...
