Kind of harsh words. How old are you 12? Do you own anything that you paid too much for because you wanted it? Oh, probably not if you are only 12.:fishslap:
Mac good to hear u'll be around this season.
U wanna buy some jigs..:D
Thats a sweet Musso darter I new who the high bidder is without looking...
Mac good to hear u'll be around this season.
U wanna buy some jigs..:D
:wall:
actually I am going to try to stay away from jigging due to limited fishing time that will be available. The Ditch is like a magnet to my truck though. Even though I bought a newer one last year it still has the same effect. :o
Sure ,,
Every year in january I say I'm gonna buckle down an make some doe this yr.
That river is evil..
It has about 300 miles of pull for me..
Krispy 01-26-2007, 10:25 AM If you want it, you want it. Enjoy!
After years of buying plugs, I learned theres no special super lure. Your not gonna find THE lure that just slays bass. Sometimes things are hyped up or their rarity make folks think there is some special attribute that these p[lugs have.
Gimme a reglr old Atom Jr any day
MarshCappa 01-26-2007, 10:37 AM Call me cheap and maybe a little naive but I would never spend this type of dough for a plug. The most I've ever spent was $20. I look at all the sites that advertise here and really like what I see but I can't seem to justify spending big bucks on these items. Granted, every time I'm in the tackle shop I seem to drop $50 with ease but at least I leave with a few plugs, etc.

capesams 01-26-2007, 05:06 PM collecting plug's is no different then collecting vintage cars that you'll never drive or stamps you'll never use to send your mail somewhere..
folks need to stop crappin on others for what they like to do or how much they want to spend on an item...it's none of our afair.
like man the said...he now owns three..how many do have?
GattaFish 01-26-2007, 05:41 PM CS,,, I agree,,, look how much a guy spends when he FIRST decides he wants to build plugs..... alot ,,, especially when you first get started....
No one says how foolish they are,,,,
numbskull 01-26-2007, 06:03 PM When I think about, $130 for those three plugs is probably a pretty good buy. That's about $43 each for an unavailable plug with a good fish catching reputation. Would you rather have one bottle darter, or two needlefish? How many needles do you already own? How many bottle darters? What do you think he could resell them for individually on ebay? Crap, I should have bought the damn things.....now I gotta go build some instead. :smash:

Just a different point of view, not crappin', and here's why; I saw two bidders I Know and have fished with. Both of them would be fishing the chit out of those plugs. A plug collection such as Capesam's or Flap's is one to be admired for, among other things, it's history. That is when it is similar to vintage cars and rare stamps. But to me, a plug that I'm gonna fish, that risks being lost on each cast, is a commodity, not a collectible. And given the craftsmanship that has been demonstrated here, and the availability of the duplicator, the price was higher than I would have been willing to pay. No one needs to explain or justify their purchases to me, so I hope I didn't ruffle anyone's feathers. Hell, I've been told That I must have overpaid because I fish a Van Staal. And when I do someday purchase a center console T-top, someone will tell me I overpaid too...
For the record, The many plugs I hang and admire in my family room give me enjoyment just in knowing the craftsmen from here who created them. Most wil never be fished, some will become presents, none will be seen on an auction site.

Swimmer 01-26-2007, 09:14 PM I admire someone who puts his money where his mouth is. If it floats his boat then let it be so.
baldwin 01-26-2007, 09:30 PM Vintage plugs are like artwork. I have some that I'll never fish, for fear of losing them, and some I'll fish just because I love to watch them swim. Even if there aren't any fish. I guess it's an obsession, but it's a nice one. Distracts me from listening to the voices.
Spiderman 01-26-2007, 10:22 PM I think he jumped the gun.
Larry , North bar tackle, is working on setting up a bigger shop to produce more plugs now. He recently retired and should be making plugs on a steadier basis.
If you get a chance to try one I think you will be pleased.
put_em_back 01-27-2007, 01:01 AM Also, check out the bid history , the seller is bidding on his own item for sale.
Actually, I don't think you can bid on your own item unless you come up with a different account, and I haven't.
Vineyardblues, thanks for looking and stating that you didn't see the shill bidding going on.
Tagger. I haven't seen a Pink 3oz Musso darter either and thats why the high reserve. If it doesn't sell, I still end up paying fees to Epay, but I put the high reserve because if it doesn't sell for enough, its not worth parting with.
Glad a few people are checking it out.
jkswimmer 01-27-2007, 01:56 AM A pink Musso darter? How about a repaint? People try to forge expensive paintings.
Backbeach Jake 01-27-2007, 08:41 AM true, but you cant pick up chicks with classic plugs :hihi:
Now if you want to talk about expensive hobbies.......
tobias 01-27-2007, 09:02 AM Doubt it's a repaint. That's the second Musso darter I've seen in pink. Seen one first hand from a collection.
put_em_back 01-27-2007, 02:21 PM A pink Musso darter? How about a repaint? People try to forge expensive paintings.
Not a repaint. One of the bidders really knows his Musso darters. Remember the cool metallic green one for sale a month ago or so by the guy that was shill bidding. He must have sold it anyway to someone because it hasn't come back up.
I did a online search this morning on a few striper sites last night and found this collection of Musso darters. There are a lot of colors out there besides yellow.
Tagger 01-27-2007, 02:36 PM I don't want to make them .. I want a Larry Welcome bottle darter to fish .. should have split bid with George
numbskull 01-27-2007, 06:07 PM Is this close?
nightfighter 01-27-2007, 06:10 PM Close enuf for me to try to ho one at plugfest!!!!!
Is this close?
Yes, but take the "point" off the top edge of slope. It needs to be a smooth transition.
ProfessorM 01-27-2007, 07:13 PM Close enuf for me to try to ho one at plugfest!!!!!
Get in line buddy, I said please:uhuh:
tobias 01-27-2007, 07:36 PM George, I'll let you borrow an original one if you want dimensions.
I don't see a red head in the Musso darter pic:tooth:
