I am working on a 1081L spinner. I had an original guide selection thought, but did not like the way it came out. I have since gone another route on this. I taped on the following guides and it looks / feels good. 40HH - 30H - 25 - 16 - 12 and a 10 tip. The 25, 16, and 12 are single foot guides. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this? This is the first time I would be going this direction with the guides, so I am looking for input. Thanks!

Toby, why high frames? I hate them things.
All BSVLG guides is what I'd do.

I was doing some searching on the sites as to possible layouts and came across a post as to a similar set up. I am not a fan of all high frames, but this does not look too bad. I have two complete high frame set ups just sitting here from a couple years back when I was trying them. I may set it up with a 50 and 40 BSVLG for comparison. Here is a shot of the rod with the high frames right now. Not the best shot, but you get an idea of how it looks (sort of).

How far up is the 40HH?

I have built quite a few rods on that blank. I usually use a bsvlg 40 and blvlg 30, 25 & 20 single foot with a 16 or 20 tip. Cast like a rocket. Very well balanced with a VS 150..... Never had the need for the 40HH

I've been using the BMNAG's on the last couple of rods that I had built, the last being a 120 1L that I cut about 7" off of the butt. I think I started with a 30.

Good suggestion. No need for 50mm or any hi rise guides on a 9' rod if you primarily use braid. I would go with the 40-30-25-20-16, plus 16 tip.
Toby, you can check my personal rods if you want before you build yours. I actually put 40-30-25-20-16-12, and 12 tip on mine. The 30-25-20-16-12 are all single foot.

BHVLG 40 HH then BSVLG 30 , then single foot 20 16 12 and a 10 SiC tip. If you want you could also use a 16 tip. Very hard to find a 12 that will fit since fuji 12 rings have limited sizes in tubes for a light rod.

I would prefer the choke from 30 to 20 than from 25 to 16.

Saltheart built my 108 1L using this guide sequence and the rod is A CASTING MACHINE!!!!! I love it!!:smokin:
