I seems you epoxy over the completed guide wrap. I've been light coating the undewraps then 2-3 more after the wrap is done. Pending on the outcome. Do you use any CP on the nylon thread. The honey wraps blue ,black and white look nice and braight. pbadad 02-09-2007, 09:11 PM Toby.. Great job on the butt wrap. I think I could use a lesson! fishaholic18 02-09-2007, 09:34 PM Dave those wraps are sweet. I seems you epoxy over the completed guide wrap. I've been light coating the undewraps then 2-3 more after the wrap is done. Pending on the outcome. Do you use any CP on the nylon thread. The honey wraps blue ,black and white look nice and braight. Yes, no need to epoxy underwraps 1st, usually 2 coats will do the trick. I try to plan my colors so I don't need to use cp. Had a few bad experiences with cp...:err: I avoid whenever possible. tlapinski 02-10-2007, 08:49 AM Thanks guys. I am always in awe of Fishaholic's wraps though. A little criticism 4 u. Imo, I would try to build up your wraps a little more so that you see less under wrap, about 50-50 fills it in nicely. Also, I like either a light or dark under wrap, when you use a color that is neither its harder make your wraps stand out, they kinda clash against each other. Again, awsome work! reelecstasy 02-21-2007, 11:19 AM I am no where near you guys so I more than welcome critisism, I just started this winter, those are my first 4 rods. I have only done about 20 or so. That's what we are here for, to learn, everyday is a school day. Thanks any and all help appreciated! fishaholic18 02-21-2007, 11:54 AM Reelecstasy, I like your clean even lines, nice work dude. A little criticism 4 u. Nope, not at all. reelecstasy 02-21-2007, 12:24 PM Shweet, I have a 1201m I was starting, I will try it on that... Diggin Jiggin 02-21-2007, 12:39 PM I like trying to figure out the order of the thread in these patterns. You do nice work. tlapinski 02-26-2007, 07:32 PM Did up a set of diamonds under the collector 50 guide on a 1201M yesterday. Spent 3 freakin hours on it from start to finish between measuring, re-measuring, grabbing a beer, and grabbing another beer. Hoping to get around to finishing the whole rod this week some time. Will put up pics once she is done. Matches the black and silver diamonds I posted earlier. reelecstasy 02-27-2007, 02:13 PM sweet, can't wait to see it. beamie 02-28-2007, 04:48 AM I was going to show some wraps last month but was never happy with the photo quality. I run into the same problem that it looks like Reelecstasy has. To do a realative close up of a wrap it get blurry. I know it is just operator error but it seems most photos have this problem. Anyone have any hints on how to get nice clear pics? I know at the time I made the camera show the little flower symbol for close ups but that didn't solve the problem. Goose 02-28-2007, 12:56 PM Natural light and no flash works good. fishaholic18 02-28-2007, 09:09 PM With the underwrap, I'll post a How To next time I do one with pix if you want. It's %$#@ tough taking pix to show detail in my shop for the "How To". First set came out like crap. Any suggestions on what kind of lighting will help clear up my pics? I have flouresence in my shop and pics come out like crap and I can't bring my wrapper outside..... crash 02-28-2007, 10:33 PM Not that I practice what I preach, but sometimes if you hold a white piece of copy paper over the flash it disperses the light to avoid the glare. I take pics for our company website sometimes and thats what I do, tides us over on a new product till the professionals can take the pics. Sweetwater 03-04-2007, 05:41 PM I finally finished the only rod that I built this season. This blank has an interesting history. A friend of mine found a 10' rod that had been discarded. The cork was all rotted and the wraps had been varnished (not flex coated) and were falling apart. He gave it to me and I stripped it down to find a Lamiglas label. I took it to CMS and they figured it was an early 80's S-glass cut down to 10'. In any case, I cleaned the blank up and retied it and she's ready for a 50 lbr :) Sweetwater 03-04-2007, 05:42 PM One more shot of the 10' lami Grand Wave 03-04-2007, 06:54 PM Sweetwater...what is the color of the thread you used for the under-wrap ? http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/attachment.php?
