How do you guys keep the Epoxy from gumming up you lip slots before you put in the lips. I usually epoxy after but I was trying to get a cleaner look and am noticing that trying to keep the slots clean is a pain in the Arse.

Hoping to get the MOASS plugs done in time for the Plugfest so I can do the Hand-off to Tobias.

TDF, try pieces of shiny poster paper or better yet cut up pieces of credit cards. Just remove them when it gets sticky.
Hope it helps

I clear coat after I rig. I like the fact that the goop gets in the slot and holds things together all the more solidly and adds a smidge more water intrusion protection. A little finesse with the acid brush and they don't look too bad, after all they are just fishing lures.:btu:

I'm with Flap and Backbeach Jake,The ones that I am going to war with, I just brush the goop on once the plug is rigged, trying to get it as close to water tight as possible..

The purdy ones that people plan on hanging,I do a little differntly, I use a divider from one of the hundreds of plastic lure cases that are strewn around my shop and garage, they come in different thicknesses, I slide the proper size one in the slot and remove it once the epoxy sets up, if I have screw holes in the top of the plug, I use small plastic screws to put in the holes to keep the epoxy from filling the hole.... I dont do many this way IMHO It's a PITA and the pre rigged ones dont look half bad.... I hate finishing/painting.. Id rather turn and fish 'em nekid!

Almost forgot on one of them.....Got it out just in time.

Thanx for all the suggestions. i usually just epoxy them after they are all put together. These were the MOASS Plugs so I was giving them a little extra TLC.
