Next he says we were robbed over the weekend, Some clowns went in and pried open the gang boxes and took everyones hand tools 2-cordless drills, 2- sawz-alls, 1- band saw and anything else they could get there hands on. I take my tools home with me so I was safe
Squid kids Dad 01-29-2007, 06:54 PM Smart thinking Bob..lucky
BigFish 01-29-2007, 06:56 PM On the down side you were the only guy that had to work today!:laughs: All your buddies are getting new tools too on the insurance company! Leave them at work next time!:laughs:

No alarm system ?
It is a brand new building in E. Bridgewater it is just wrapped in plastic
UserRemoved1 01-29-2007, 08:11 PM Larry I'd delete that if I was you. Not too smart advocating insurance fraud on a public forum....
gone fishin 01-29-2007, 10:36 PM Bob as you know that happens often on jobs. You are smart haulin your own tools. It may seem a gift to have the insurance co. buy you new stuff, but you pay for it in the end with higher premiums and cancelled policies. Also loose time chasing new tools.:wall:
Not to hijack the thread but..............
I was on one jobsite that the thieves stole floor tile - enough for a BIG basement. They took all the tile off a skid but the outside edges and covered the top so that it took a while to discover it was gone. On a job in Medford, there was a 46" parapet wall about 140 feet long clad in copper. They stripped the copper clean and in the process cut the roof open dragging the copper to the area they dropped it off into a truck.:hang:
Squid kids Dad 01-29-2007, 10:49 PM Oh..The new Compass Medical building on Rt.18..That sucks..Looks pretty well lit
BigFish 01-29-2007, 11:23 PM Scott....can't charge me with anything! Its in the constitution.....something about free speech!:rtfm:
Never said I was an advocate of it......loosen the grip good lookin'!:hihi:
BW from AZ 01-30-2007, 12:11 AM been helping my son inlaw get his fixer upper ready to sell. he has had it for 5 years and never fixed it up till hes ready to sell. they got us for 2 compressors,3 hand drills, complete ratchet & socket set, complete hand wrench set, acet& oxy torch, and wire welder. left all the house construction tools. had lots of stuff ready to load but ran out of room. i figure they are setting up a home auto repair shop thanks to us. neibor kid watched two hispanics load everything at 3:30 in the after noon. didnt report or call 911. cops said cant do anything for us but take a report. you just cant win.
all i want is 5 minutes alone with the low lifes
UserRemoved1 01-30-2007, 05:02 AM 10-4 Larry stuff like that can be construed the wrong way...I've switched to lefty :hee:
BigFish 01-30-2007, 07:36 AM :btu:
Raven 01-30-2007, 07:50 AM a guy goes into a work zone and waits to hear a worker's name.
then he goes upstairs, pretending to be a downstairs worker on
a mission....and says the guy downstairs needs to borrow a specific tool for ten minutes....
the guy upstairs says: yep ,no problem and gives it to him....
the thief leaves the building with the tool.... later the guy upstairs
comes down to reclaim the tool and finds out it was a scam.
Rappin Mikey 01-30-2007, 07:53 AM That sucks!!! :nailem: I got robbed this week too. Someone broke into my new house before I even moved in. The funny thing is only the alluminum duct work and siding were taken. No tools or anything else. Sounds like an inside job to me.
Karl F 01-30-2007, 08:06 AM not to hi jack.. but there have been a rash of thefts on the cape, guys stealing aluminum and copper offa job sites.. Mikeys post made me think of this.. and not just job sites.. they hit the industrial park in my town this weekend and hit the scrap piles of a lot of guys shops.. even took a big aluminum tank (empty) off of an old ten wheeler!..
price of scrap is high, so a lot of this stuff will get boosted for scrap money, alum. siding, ducts, copper pipes etc.
economy being what it is, this stuff will just escalate.
The Dad Fisherman 01-30-2007, 08:32 AM I was reading an article theother day about how they are thinking about re-valueing the penny to make it worth 5 Cents. The cost of copper is so through the roof that people are smelting down pennies for the scrap value.
Rockfish9 01-30-2007, 09:10 AM Your smart bringing your tools home with you... job sight theft is way too common....
As far as replacing them goes, it's been my experience that you never realy know how much crap you own... until it's gone! Sometimes not until a month or more latter....
thortum 01-30-2007, 04:11 PM Carrying tools back and forth is safe but it gets to be a real hassle. Another down side is that people find work for you. Cuts into fishing time. I never brought tools home. I can prove it.... drive by my house. SHAME SHAME ON ME.
tattoobob 01-30-2007, 05:34 PM Tool always come home with me, today the word is that if you don't have all your tools tomorrow don't come in WTF the were stolen yesterday. plus they will not replace the cost of the tools
leaving your tools on the job is just lazy and unsafe.
today we were moving a gang box to the second floor, instead of carrying it up the stairs I decided to use the framers fork truck we get it up and the safety cable was in the way so 4 of us lift the cable up and sneak the box under goes ok but a weld breaks and the super comes over and screams at me " who took the cable down?" no one the weld broke "well think about what your doing work smart not like a f'n idiot" I turn around and say who do you think your talking to if the guy who welded the support on knew what he was doing it wouldn't of broken, and beside what if some one fell and it broke that's not to safe is it. well this guy was BS and yelled something that I just disregarded and walked away. PSSST
thortum 01-30-2007, 08:00 PM Sounds to me like your working non-union. Better get a union and a shop steward down there.
