Got Stripers

This weekend was a vivid reminder just how inconsiderate some boaters can be. During Saturday's bluefish blitz, I had a least 3 boats come motoring right on top of a school of blues I was working and start casting, even thou their own stupidity put them down the minute they motored on top of them. I'm not saying a school I'm working is my own private school, but to just motor right alongside and through the school is nuts.
Then yesterday my son just had to have one last shot at some stripers, so we launched in the North River to give it a try for an hour or so. I'm fishing a narrow channel that cuts through a sand bar that most large boats wouldn't even try to use at that tide. I've got him drifting a live eel behind the boat as we work our way out the channel. Along comes a 25 footer and right across his line, passing within 20 feet of our boat. I tried waving him to slow down to give us a chance to get the line in and I know he saw the warning. I gave him a piece of my mind as I cranked down the drag to break off the line and his return comment was it's a channel. No sorry, just tough **it buddy. First of all I'm not under power and had the trolling motor down, so that gives me the right of way. But this clown could have given me 2 minutes and the line would have been out of his way. I hope the 20 feet of 30# spiderwire he picked up in his props does a number on his seals, that will teach him a lesson. I've had idiots run over my lines at least 3 or 4 times and they all look at me like I'm doing something wrong.
Jerks like that should be loaded into a freighter, along with all the jet ski operators and sent on a very long boat ride. These are probably the same jerks that cut you off in rush hour traffic to gain that 1 minute on their ride to work. Just burns my butt that people don't even pay attention or give a damn for others out on the water.
Tight lines, hope everyone had a good weekend.
