View Full Version : Deep plug bag
santacruzer 01-31-2007, 01:16 PM Just signed on this AM... thanks all for being here.
I am looking at what's available in a deeper plug bag that will hold longer plugs. The bag I have now (Canyon) holds standard length stuff ( Striper Strikes, Cotton Cordell 6" pencils etc. but I want a deeper bag for some jointed plugs, long pencils etc.
Your ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Paul
The Dad Fisherman 01-31-2007, 01:29 PM Aquaskinz small/tall bag should do the trick.

BW from AZ 01-31-2007, 01:38 PM Hi neibor
vanstaal 01-31-2007, 02:42 PM I have been looking myself for my long needles. The bag's I have looked @ are all 9'' tall :eyes:
santacruzer 01-31-2007, 03:29 PM Thanks all you guys for the replys. As to Rockports inquirey as to how the fishing is in Santa Cruz....well... the fishing is fantastic....the catching....? well.... a tad on the slow side.
Right now fishing for surf perch is fair but the striper gig is now up in the Sacramento Delta and it varies with the wind and water conditions... when it's good it's real good.
In a few months, plus or minus, the stripers will come back down thru the Delta and San Francisco Bay and hit the beaches again.
Hope it's been good for you guys who live in "striper heaven".
Paul
gone fishin 01-31-2007, 05:26 PM welcome -- You are going to be hard pressed to find a bag that will take l o n g plugs. The average is 8" and it will not cut the long stuff. I usually end up laying them on top. Makes for a sloppy bag when woring the surf.:hs:
I put the big needles and jointed swimmers in the tubes on either end tail down. That way only the nose of the plug is hangin out. If every tube was made to fit these plugs you would spend alot of time trying to fish out your standard size plugs that fall down into the tubes.
Pete F. 01-31-2007, 05:54 PM I would start making them but some one would knock them off and make them in china and sell them for less.
vanstaal 01-31-2007, 06:35 PM my buddy has one it holds 12 needles in tubes light one's 6 on each side and is three sections with the center Zipper opening to reveal a plastic box nice bag and of course no name on it ! its blue :err: :err:
something as long as a empty chalking tube !

Not if the quality was like nothing else out there. My buddy bought one of the old original 2 or 3 row VS surf bag made of sail cloth on Ebay, for I think just around $175. Two days later someone offered him $250 + shipping.
Built it once and build it right and the most serious will buy it!

I made one a few weekends ago after reading the thread about shampoo containers. I bought an army bag for 4 bucks and duct taped 6 tennis ball can's together. drilled some holes in the bottom and its great. im going to add a buckle to the front, it currently has ties to hold the flap over. holds the biggest of plugs i have.
Pete F. 01-31-2007, 10:10 PM Hey I have a large BW bag I'd trade for a 706 spool.

I ran with the tennis ball container idea. I now have two plugs inserts that slide easily in and out of my skinz bag. :humpty:
