Someone at my wifes work said the curley lights were dimmer than the bulb lights we use even though the same watt curley bulbs replaced the regular bulbs. Any truth to this?.

I don't know if they are dimmer but they give off a different color of light. My Wife just switched them in my house and I'm still trying to get used to them.

They're supposed to mimic daylight more than the Incandescent Bulbs.

I'll tell you though they look friggin ugly in our ceiling fan...

It really depends on the brand you buy. Some give off more light than others of the same wattage. I like the Sylvania ones the best.

our 60watt (or equivalent) are VERY bright.

Technically the curly bulbs give off way more light because you are using less watts per bulb.

I have been using them for 2 years, use them in just about everything they will fit in to.
Just as bright even brighter!! I have them in the out side light also, but they are pretty dim in a cold area when they first come on.

Building 19, .50 each!! I have up to 100w they awesome.
