I just installed a new scanner, and it may have nothing to do with this problem, but here it goes.... When I leave my computer dormant for more than a few minutes, it goes back to the startup screen, and I have to click on my user name and log back into windows. Anyone know what is causing this to happen?

I'm assuming its Windows XP. So right-click on the Desktop and select Properties. then on the Screen Saver Tab select none for screen saver (if you don't want a screensaver at all) or de-select On Resume Password Protect...that Should do it

you can go into accessories and load up your administration tools
and make it so you don't have to log in at all....

what i always do....is to create a shortcut for control panel
right on the desktop... then i rightclick the control panel icon
select (properties) __> advanced and then select the green tree
out of the group hit apply and then OK

you'll see it change.... now you have the tree of life
where all your system tweaks are right at your finger tips.

the whole dammed point of owning a "personal" computer
is to be able to customize it to your liking :bsod:
