i am going to have lots of time to service my equipment and rig gear , a compressor trailer landing gear broke landing on my foot , nothing broken but a bad bone bruise . i will be laid up for a week or two . my question is when servicing my reels should i oil my bail wire and pickup (i was thinking a little wd40), i have always been leary of contaminating the line , i use power pro , my leaders are seagar floro but put on later , any thoughts ?

A little WD shouldn't hurt a thing. Infact, it's a good idea to coat the reel to prevent oxidation. I read on another site that some use WD to scent their plugs. Some guys claim one of WD secret ingredients is Bunker oil. That's what I heard!
Now watch me get chopped up for saying something without scientific proof.

WD-40= slow curing varnish and once it cures it's tough to remove. None of the common solvents are very effective. I think it was carburetor cleaner that worked best, yet not great.
